Can I use the 40 V rechargeable battery that came with my B & D cordless trimmer (Model LST136)? It is a LBXR2036. (that's what's marked on the battery).

Answer:
I would go on the Black & Decker website to follow up on this, or check your manual.
Unfortunately, my cordless trimmer is a 20V rechargeable, and I think it's the same model
as your's? If it's a 20V, it will not work. Too large...

I've used the 36v with my 40v and it seems to function better. Don't know if it is causing damage.

20v comparison

This question is from 120-MPH 90-CFM Lithium-Ion 40-Volt Cordless Electric Sweeper

Has anyone been able to compare this 40v with their 20v model? I notice they're both listed as being 120mph airspeed so i'm assuming the 40v translates to longer running time. Anyone notice how much of a difference it is? I just got the 20v and it's sufficient with 2 batteries and quick charger.. but I keep looking at the 40v wondering if it's much better.. but the price increase is substantial.

I have recently purchased the 40-VOLT Sweeper. The couple times I have used it, I like it a lot better! But I can't really say it's much of a difference, including the fact you have 2 20-VOLT BATTERIES with a quick charger. The one thing I really like with the 40-VOLT is the variable speeds with it. It is probably why it is more expensive? Time will tell if it lasts longer then the 20-VOLT one? I loved Read More

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 62 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cordless lawn sweeper Very pleased. Holds the charge longer than any blower I've ever had. Light October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Met expectations I purchased this product because of have two other B&D products that use the same lithium battery. The power is sufficient to clear hard surfaces such as concrete driveways and decks. Although I haven't actually tried it, I doubt that the power level is sufficient to blow leaves off a lawn. But I didn't expect that capability since I have a corded blower to do that task. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Real Nice! Upgrade from my old one Had a 20-Volt Cordless B&D. Was great, but it was noisy and would screech at times? This one has adjustable blowing speeds (1-6) which is nice because you don't always need the Sweeper going full tilt! Battery is large, but what do you want with a 40-VOLT! Black & Decker did a great job in getting a nice, easy blower to use! September 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what I need it to do It is light and easy to use. Not strong enough to blow away caked on flower petals, but it does what I want it to do, IE blowing dry leaves and grass clippings around. I have plenty of battery life. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cordless leaf blower. I purchased this to make cleaning off yard trimmings easy. This is lightweight, easy to turn on and I like the ability to pick the strength for the blower. The battery life lasted about 15-20 min for me on the 5th setting Which was sufficient for me to do the job. I am pleased with the purchase & recommend it to any one doing light to medium needs for yard work. If you have a large yard, you may need 2 batteries but 1 works well for my needs. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by can you say where is the power? It will not blow large leaves. With most leaves, you have to be within 4 or 5 inches. Don't try to use it for anything wet or moist. You'll have no luck. With a 40 watt battery, I thought it would be powerful. They really cut back on the amperage to to increase the battery life on a given charge. I would have preferred more power than extended use. Very disappointed with this product. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Super Convenient and perfect for the job. The blower is definitely light weight. It's easy to use and basically grab and go. The battery lasts long enough to blow out my entire back yard. I have an in ground pool and my neighbor has lots of leaves on their trees that like to fall on our side of the fence. Each morning, I grab the blower and in a short time the yard is clean and I don't have messy gas on my hands or clothes. August 9, 2016
