Is the cord annoying when mowing?

This question is from 17 in. Walk-Behind Corded Electric Mower

Between my lawn and the outlet is a garden of summer flowers with stairs down the center. I am concerned that the cord will "rake" over my garden back and forth as I mow. Is there a solution, other than going cordless? (battery replacements vs. annoyance of cord.) Thanks.

Answer:
In my opinion with the summer flowers and stairs in your picture, I would go with a cordless. A lot less hassle not having to deal with the cord. As a gardener I would not want the cord 'raking' across the flowers.

I do not find the cord annoying. Of course you have to keep moving the cord to avoid running over it. But, I would rather need to move a cord than run to the gas station for gas or have to store gas for a standard mower. And, an electric mower is much quieter than a gas mower. Again, the cord is not bothersome for me and if you purchase a very long cord you will tend not to "rake" over your garden. A Read More

Answer:
The cord can be annoying but I'm getting better with using after several tries. You may just need a longer cord to go around the flower bed.
I looked at the battery models as well and the mowers were significantly costlier.
I've have good luck with the B&D electric products, my EdgeHog is 12 years old and still works like a champ.
So far I've been pleased with my pruchase.

Answer:
I've always used a corded lawn mower. I don't have the strength to pull the gas models and I have gotten quite used to the cord. Yes, you must be careful around some shrubs, so you stop what you are doing and move It!

Why would you unplug it? If you are mowing, you must leave it plugged in to get the job done. This unit does not have a battery, so you must leave it plugged in.

This is a corded model and must remain plugged in while in use.
Start your mowing job closest to the electrical outlet and work your way out. Be ever mindful of where the cord is so you don't run it over. Similar to using a vacuum inside your house...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by "Lightweight" is not necessarily a good thing! We just received this mower today, to replace the same size Black and Decker we bought 6 years ago. We had to replace it because I ran over a metal stump from a long gone fence. Anyways, my husband was assembling it, and called me out to look at it. I cannot get over the difference in quality! This is the cheapest piece of equipment I have ever seen! All plastic, but thin. Wobbly, the wheels aren't even real wheels, and the handle is weirdly long. It feels like a children's toy mower! I am shocked at how shoddy it is. I trust B&D to be solid quality merchandise, but no more. We packed it right back up and will be returning it tomorrow. September 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower I have down sized my lawn to less than 500 sq ft. Needed a mower that was not as heavy as my present one and not gas. This mower does a decent job for the area that I have. I had no problem putting the mower together and like the light weight and ease of starting. The electrical cord is the only draw back but am getting used to it. I believe this mower is great for small areas but not as large as stated. September 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Corded Electric Lawn Mower Took an hour to get the handle inserted. The 2 screws to be used to secure the handle were not the right ones, they did not fit, so was unable to secure the handle properly. As a result I have to use it with the handle looser than it should be. I think when the handle was drilled for the holes for the screws - they did not make them large enough, there is no way the screws will go into those holes. Also, there is an orange plastic "thing" hanging in the center of the handle - is this to somehow stable the cord? If so, how? Instruction booklet is not clear, in fact, the instruction details must have been written by someone who did not understand how to put something together, very poor instructions. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best mower Lasts forever with a great cut. Iwould recommend to all. September 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not As Advertised I need a grass catcher for my mower and since the bag for my previous mower ripped and the bag was no longer sold, I needed to buy a new mower. I specifically chose this model because of the unrippable plastic grass catcher. It turns out the picture is wrong and you get a bag just as I had before which will eventually rip and need to be replaced if they choose to continue making them. Misleading photo by Home Depot. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower Very easy assembly, smooth and easy to control. Have only used a few times, so we'll see how it lasts. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Right Choice Had no problems putting together. Lighter than any other lawn mower I've used. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good lawn mower for the price I have used this mower 3-4 times since I got it. Haven't really noticed any problems. It is a good lawn mower for the price. The cable management system works well if you follow the instructions in the manual. The only problem I have noticed, which isn't really a problem but just a suggestion for B+D is that the tabs where you wrap the extension cord around need to be bigger. I use a 50ft extension cord and it is not easy to wrap it all. I bet if you use a 25ft cable, you would be fine. And I wish there was a way I could hang this mower in my garage instead of just having it sit there. June 14, 2016
