Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Trimmer This is a great trimmer with more than enough power. I have a third of an acre lot in the country and can easily do the whole border of my lot along with edges of tress and flowerbeds. In spring when the lawn is very thick I use a battery and a half or so. Late summer when growth isn't as thick I can do it on a single battery. It has more than enough power to tackle overgrown areas with weeds and vines. It's more powerful than the corded trimmer I had before this one. It's light and comfortable to carry too. The auto spooler works great too. I've never had it tangle and am on my second season with the original spool. June 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product and cordless is the way to go ! Great looking trimmer, light weight and sturdy - really like the 2 - 1 feature. Has good power, auto feed works well and have found the battery life to be very good. This trimmer has always completed the task at hand without having to switch to a second battery. Only thing missing is the fast charger, although the supplied charger does a good job but have to wait for at least 6 hours. It takes about 5 cycles for battery and charger to sync in and work together. My first cordless tool and very happy with this 18 volt line. Thanks - Black and decker. July 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great trimmer I have used many trimmers but this was my first cordless. Although the reviews were VG, I remained skeptical. I have used it about 5 times and must say this is the greatest trimmer, and I highly recommend it. > The automatic string feeds nicely and I have had no problems with it so far. > The battery life is impressive. I have a moderately large residential yard of 110' x 55'/ I trim the perimeter, plus both sides of a 60' driveway, a sidewalk, and a boulevard. l rotate the use of the batteries but have not yet had to use the second battery. > The unit is nicely balanced and the handle length is adjustable. > The unit is also quite quiet (the last electric one I had warranted ear plugs) while operating. I have no hesitation in giving this a 5/5 star rating. June 9, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 24 Volt is no good either I just bought the 24 volt black and decker trimmer and charged it for the required 11hrs first time and trimmed our tiny back yard and it died then charged it again and trimmed the front yard and it died while trying to edge the driveway.. our lot is only 50x150 with a 1300 sq ft home on it.. so not much at all back yd is 50x30 and front is mostly garden with a small boulavard to cut... I m taking this back and going and getting another stihl I know they work and gas is no big deal. Good concept but a real flop July 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Performs very well, and has lots of nice features I just bought this to replace a faulty TORO 8" cordless trimmer (which conveniently failed at the end of its warranty period). The price difference between the TORO and the B&D trimmers is worth it: - The li-ion battery lasts longer and is removable (with a charger that can charge it separately from the trimmer), and it even comes with a spare battery. - The auto pay-out mechanism for the nylon line appears to work reasonably well, and the line spool is relatively easy to remove and re-insert. - The adjustable length/angle/handle is a nice feature. The cutting swath is much larger making it a much easier and quicker task to trim my lawn. Hopefully the performance and features this product will be matched with durability, so that it will outlast its warranty for a long time (unlike my experience with the TORO). May 12, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no good I was not impressed by the 18 hours to charge the 2 batteries and the 20 minutes of use I got out of the product. I'd really rather drag a cord around. May 27, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by louis1949 Bought the black and decker 18v trimmer/edger model 2118. Very disappointed in battery runtime. I get 12 min on a 6 to 9 hour charge! So it takes two days to do my yard. Will never buy Black and Decker again. June 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! I just purchased this trimmer a few days ago. It was simple to assemble, charge and use. I've only used it once but I'm already bragging about it to all my friends and family!! It does a great job! I love that it is an automatic feed and no cord to fuss with. I love it! May 23, 2011
