Answer:
The battery charger is included. It is recommended to be recharged after every use. I just plug mine in and leave it till we mow again in 4-5 days. The battery lasts my entire large yard along with drive and curb edge if I use power level 1. It is recommended to not keep out in the fall/winter cold (below 40 degrees F) or extreme heat (above 105 degrees F).

Yes. One charger and the instructions say you can leave plugged in indefinitely. In fact, they pretty much suggest it.

Auto feed

How is the auto feed on this? I currently have an older Black & Decker Grass Hog with an auto feed spool and it is horrible. No matter how careful I am to reload the spool, it never auto feeds properly or it jams. So I dread using it and I'm leary of getting another trimmer with an auto feed spool.

My auto feed works fantastic. Just hang on to the small piece and insert into the hole and snap in. No need to pull out farther when starting. And this sure beats having to reload a typical gas trimmer line over and over. It sounds like too much line was let loose when putting into the housing.

I have only had it a little over a month, but so far, no line jams. I think it's important to get the brand name line, and not a generic one

Answer:
I usually just charge mine overnight. Power level 1 is strong enough and makes the battery last a long time; enough to do my large yard. I keep it plugged in until we mow and trim again sometimes 4-5 days later. Otherwise I have recharged it for a few hours to do extra trimming if I forgot to use power level 1.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 69 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Battery charge not up to par for even a standard sized job The quality and durability of the unit itself is decent enough, however, the battery doesn't last anywhere near as long as I expected it would. Would be great for those in a patio home or some type of smaller yard, but anyone who actually has a regular sized year will either have to get a 2nd battery to complete the job in one setting or plan out a block where you can get about 1/2 of it done and then do the 2nd half several hours later or the next day. Guess the Lithium-ion battery technology still isn't quite there yet. Would not recommend for anyone other than the tiniest yards mentioned above August 3, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Battery died after 2 months Works well when the battery is charged, but as all others have complained, the battery life is very short between charges and the spools run out fast. Can barely get through trimming out behind the fence before it needed recharging. Then the battery quit altogether after 2 months, won't charge at all anymore. Just cheap Chinese junk when Black & Decker moved to China. My old USA-built B&D tools still run fine. Am done with this brand. Why should I have to pay extra for a 2-year extended warranty at checkout? Because it can't be expected to last more than 2 months. August 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cordless line trimmer I have a big one. My wife needed one that was not so big. It seems to have plenty of stamina and foist well in her hand. I'm waiting to see if the battery has enough oomph for our mid sized yard. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT! I bought this trimmer for my son so he can start learning how to take care of a lawn. It's a great trimmer if you are looking for something lightweight and easy to use . It's power is good for it being one string in oppose to other two string edgers. If you're looking into have a good electric edger and not spending more this one is for you. I also recommend to use number 1 power . There's a option of choosing 1 or 2 , 2 is of course powerful but drains the battery. I just cut my edges with the 2 and my battery drained just when I was about done . With the 1 set on I never drained my battery . January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weed eater We love the weed eater light weight and easy to use. Thank uou August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ok for "easy" grass It's just not powerful enough for our tough weed eating, but I use it for the easy stuff around the house and garden. It's a nice option to decrease our use of gasoline. We are off-grid, and the battery doesn't take much power to charge. August 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst trimmer I've owned The 3 Rd time I used the trimmer the tall grass wrapped around the inside under the trimmer head and froze up. The auto feed didn't work correctly either. And it took 3 charges to do my small yard. Get a gas trimmer and save yourself the trouble and expense. July 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by B&D Weedeater Why couldn't they make the same battery for the new weedeater as they did for the old one? Now I have two batteries that are worthless. August 2, 2016
