THIS WAS ON THE CLEARANCE TABLE AT HOME DEPOT SO I DECIDED TO GET IT. IT IS SO VERSATILE THAT I USE IT A LOT. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD BUY AT FULL PRICE.

For some years, the brand name B&D was hardly what it used to be. Well, if this piece of hardware is an indicator, the good stuff is back! We are not talking about Makita hardware here but for serious around the house and garage projects, this drill motor and attachments are no disposable cheapies.
I have found the same level of value, dependability and quality with B&D's 20v lithium cordless hedge trimmer. The products do exactly what their description says. No fluff or fuss. I just love a tool that really does the job...and manufacturers who tell, not twist, the truth about a product.

Review of B&D matrix drill:
I must admit I didn't expect much from this drill when I was looking at it. I already have two professional drills; a corded Dewalt 10amp beast and my cordless Hitachi drill and impact driver. Both are great drills offering fantastic power to weight ratio and the Dewalt is so powerful it makes me nervous sometimes, however this drill is almost as good as my new Hitachi ones for a fraction of the cost! I love all the attachments and have used them all, the saw works well with the proper blades which I ended up needing to trim trees with while on vacation. The drills works well for general all around drilling applications and I like the speed options (very responsive) and as such I routinely find myself bringing this drill in my emergency car tool bag to work with me. With the proper bits it carves right through wood and 70 year old quality brick and masonry including straight into the brick itself which did impress me. It doesn't offer the same power as my Hitachi and certainly not my Dewalt which treats everything like butter, but for a fraction of the cost I've been very impressed with the power. I've seen much more expensive drills at Wal-Mart that in my opinion are vastly inferior to this model and this one is cheaper than them.
I've also been impressed with the included battery which offers excellent power as I was able to drill, drive, and cut for over 2 hours through brick and masonry just this week at my job in re-hanging and fixing several broken things around the place I work. I was quite impressed despite the materials I was going through, my drill never died and the drill and driver attachments did great. My Hitachi's offer great power but I've also noticed that does seem to impact their battery life and I think they might have needed recharged if I used them for the same project.
The real selling point for me of this drill though honestly has to be the ability to switch between all the different accessory tools in all of 10 seconds! I really like this as I can put a drill bit in the drill attachment, then unplug it from the housing and attach the impact driver tool and drive the screws home. It makes it so easy to quickly and efficiently get those project done and then trim your project on the spot if you need to as well. This is such an innovative design and one I've been waiting for over 10 years.
With all that being said I do have some gripes with the drill even at this price. The first is with the construction of the drill itself, while I like the rubberized design I do not like how the individual casing pieces were fused together as they're off by about 1/16 of an inch if not a bit more. This irritates me as it creates a rough edge around the entire middle of the drill, and I've always hated rough spots on plastic things. Clearly better quality control is needed here. I also do not like the chuck that much, although it does seem to hold bits well I don't like the plastic that's already taken a bit of a beating and I don't like the fact that it doesn't seem to click to lock firmly like my Hitachi's do which helps set me at ease. I did noticed that during my latest little project with it, twice when going through strong brick wall, the bits did seem to spin within the chuck. I feel this wouldn't be the case if they would better 'lock" into place.
Another issue I take with it is that I seem to only have truly variable speed (very important so you don't burn up drill bits) with the drill attachment and the saw attachment. The impact driver attachment although working well, doesn't seem to have any speed control. Its either going or it's not. This bothers me since my Hitachi impact driver has such good speed control I find myself using it more than my drill for almost everything, so in short I think the B&D impact attachment needs to be refined.
Overall though for the price I think this is a great drill with affordable batteries and makes a great gift. I've been so impressed with it I actually ended up buying my Dad one since his only 12volt Dewalt couldn't hold a charge for longer than 5 minutes anymore.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Liza0324 Tool that I have been looking for all along
I bought this multi-tool in store and have used it for the past month for various projects around the house. Used the jigsaw to cut beadboard panels, might not be what most people use to cut beadboard, but it did a clean cut so I was very satisfied. The blade that came with this kit was thin enough, saved me a trip to the hardware store. This is one of the very few drills that is light and have an easy snap button to remove battery; perfect for small hands. Now, I'm looking into buying the trim saw.
