I don't know, but I assumed the battery was included, as the trimmer needs it to run the motor. Hope that helps.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 187 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hope this one lasts This is the third identical unit which I have bought from Home Depot; they seem to last about 4 years on the average. The blades on the last one stopped moving even though the engine kept running; I figured this built-in obsolescence makes it not worth it to fix the previous one...I like the electric motor and now have two interchangeable battery packs to use on a Eugenia bush hedge that requires trimming every two or three months.that U trim every two months or so. This latest unit seems to run a bit slower than the previous ones- even with lubrication; I know it is not the battery packs... Hope this does not indicate a defective feature but rather an improvement to make them last longer...I have not found a better alternative manufacturer so I am stuck buying this unit which has it's own advantages, of course. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My wife loves it! I really shouldn't submit a review on this product because since I purchased it I have not used it. But my wife decided that our bushes needed trimmed so she spent two days doing just that!!! She reported to me that it was wonderful, light, easy to trim with and she loved it. What more can I say...it's great and seems to be just right! July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dead battery Battery would not charge . I'm a handy person battery would not charge . Called BD they told me it was an issue with HD because they didn't rotate their stock . So BD told me to tell HD to give me a new battery. Back in forth I went . Finally returned unit . Would never buy a Black and Decker product again their customer service is horrible. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Light weight Light weight. The first one was broken but the second one seems fine July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as I expected It arrived as promised and was east to assemble. It is light to handle and the battery has enough charge to do what I need. I really like the fact that it is cordless so that cutting the cord is not a constant danger. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient I wanted a cordless hedge trimmer for ease of using. Also have purchased a B&D cordless edger/blower which work great. This product works well, though not as powerful as a plug in style. Also, battery life is ok, but if you have a big project you may need to recharge during the job as I do with my other cordless B&D products. I have a half acre lot. Still, the convenience is worth it. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best trimmer ever Outstanding product. Best feature is the weight. I have a gas trimmer that I have difficulty in operating as I have MS but this trimmer is a dream. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Useful, as long as you don't have too much to do This was a replacement for a corded B&D hedge trimmer that died after 15 years of service. It was still running, but apparently couldn't cut chain link fence (who knew?) I already had a B&D line trimmer that used the same battery, so I figured the extra cost for cordless would be worth it. An additional plus would be my wife wouldn't slice through any more extension cords, (guess who also tried to trim chain link?) It is faster than its predecessor, but that may be simply a new one is sharper that a 15 year old one. It is a little heavier, but no cord make that barely noticeable. A small minus is the battery time. My trimmings take about 45 minutes, front to finish, and I can usually do it on a single battery. If I have to switch out, its not a problem since I have 2 more for the trimmer, but if I only had the one battery, I'd have to wait 3-4 hours for it to cool down and charge. June 28, 2016
