Answer:
This comes with a short "pigtail" cord that you will attach your extension cord to. Loop the extension cord through the handle and behind the cord holding 'hook' just behind the switch..

Answer:
No, it does not. I bought the cord separately. Make sure you check how many amps the cord can handle and cross check it with how many amps the trimmer uses. Also make sure the cord is rated for outdoor use.

Constant ON switch?

My old black and decker has an awesome switch that one I engage the start trigger to make the blades move, I can then hit the top switch that will keep the blades moving. I love this feature and it appears that manufactures are doing away or not listing it?

Does this have that feature? OR is it a top button press/slide to engage the actual trigger power button?

Thanks

My old B&D trimmer was the same as yours. No, this trimmer does not lock on, but this trimmer works so much better than my old one it does not matter. The safety police are protecting you. Like I said this works so much better than my old trimmer I would buy again.

There is still a lock button which needs to be pressed down to engage the trigger. But unfortunately, in order to keep the unit running, you must now continue to squeeze the trigger.

Answer:
4 amps, recommended cord is 14ga. Smaller gauge (higher number) will create a voltage drop, increasing amperage, over heating the motor which may cause switch or motor failure. I personally use 12 ga. cords on all my corded power tools

This trimmer is about 4.5 lbs. It is pretty well balanced when being used, so it seems lighter. Almost all of the electric trimmers are very light and easy to use, the only "problem" is pulling around the extension cord and avoiding cutting it. It's a great choice for trimming hedges and VERY small tree limbs within 100' of an outlet. A 12 gauge extension cord is ideal, but a 14 gauge will work in a pinch for home use.Never more than 100' because there will be a current drop that will shorten the life of the motor. Always be sure to use appropriate safety equipment (eye protection, dust masks etc.) Be sure to unplug and clean the trimmer between uses and apply a small amount of WD-40 to the cutting bar to keep everything moving as it should. Happy cutting !! Read Less

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 297 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by More Than Adequate for Small Jobs I just needed a smaller trimmer for my hedge that extends only about 30 feet and about 3 feet deep. This trimmer is perfect for that size. It is light enough to allow me to hold it with one hand and so reach farther. October 4, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Trimmer is powerful and light weight. The reason for only 3 stars is the poor positioning of the safety lock button. If you are holding the handle your thumb naturally falls right over the the safty button. I was coming down from step ladder with trimmer in right hand and trimmer off. Foot slipped slightly and grabbed for ladder with right hand. Trimmer started with bade across ladder and nearly cut 2 fingers off. Hope fingers heal and regain feeling. Safety shut of should be moved so thumb does not set naturally over it. Wish others better luck, but be careful with this model trimmer. October 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trimmer works very well. October 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worthy addition to the tool rack I bought this as an upgrade to the manual hedge clippers I was previously using. It is a real time saver, and my only regret is that I had bought it sooner. The motor, which seems to be larger than on most trimmers in this class, handled everything I threw at it. Like other B+D corded yard tools, it accepts a separate extension cord (not included). The only downside is the cord, which limits portability. On the other hand, there are are no batteries or small engines to maintain, which is a huge plus for me. I would definitely recommend this trimmer for light use, where portability is not a primary concern. August 30, 2016
