My previous hedge trimmer was a hand-me-down and provided me with years of service before dying. I was looking for a 24+ inch trimmer as I have long and tall hedges. This trimmer is well balanced, cuts well and is relatively quiet. The extra-long blade not only speeds up the job, but also ensures that you get clean straight lines. Just make sure that you regularly oil the blades and do multiple shallow cuts rather than trying to cut deep. This trimmer makes hedge trimming fun again.

I was looking for a good hedge trimmer and, with the result of online research, the best 'bang for the buck' was this Black & Decker model. I'm not a huge fan of Black & Decker products (I've been disappointed by the quality of some that I've purchased) but this one is a good one.
I got it from Home Depot at a reduced price since it was the last one on stock at the end of the season - that is, it was the display model (no box, no manual, etc.) I would have purchased it at regular price anyway and, still, I'd have been very satisfied.
What's good about it? It's strong, it has a long cutting section and, though its not recommended, its light enough that I've been able to use it with one hand while reaching for branches that were farther away. I like the lock-on function. It makes for effective continuous cutting without having to co-ordinate the thumb muscle also.
Want a good, strong hedge trimmer at a reasonable price? This is the one.

Works well. Was great that did not need to buy blade attachment shown on picture. Some brands showed picture of hedger but blade not included in purchase.

Great price but not enough power for big jobs. This is a light duty only tool.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by jody First invention usually best way
I have lots of hedges so I Know what works and this one does. Plenty of power, easy to hold, quiet, and a bonus.
First, if you hold by the handle it balances almost perfect. it cuts very nice, almost professional . The bonus is if you hold it a certain way you get a breeze from the motor spinning, pretty cool. The rotating handle makes it easy to hold. If you notice this trimmer is skinny and long and the first invented ones 60 years ago were made the same way, it was for perfect balance when holding it. So it looks like the first way they invented was still the best way. Yes this one cost 20 dollars more but you will not be disappointed.
