I use this device to attach and detach a small device on my equipment. Not a high torque application....simply to hold a small flange securely. 1/4"-20 hex head 1" machine screws. Basically, just a snug fit. I was applying, what I feel is light torque and I could hear and feel something snap. I opened up the tools case and saw the main gear in 3 pieces. Looked like cheap metal was used to make an insufficiently strong gear. I am really disappointed with Black and Decker. Not the first problem I've had....but the last time I buy B&D.

I used this screwdriver to put together 5 pieces of Sauder bedroom furniture. One piece alone had 43 screws on the back plate. I would not have been able to do it as quickly without the Black and Decker screwdriver. It had a lot of power.
Only negative is that the drill bits do not attach to the screwdriver itself for storage. That would have been nice to keep up with them because it comes with two different bits.

Ignore the low ratings from people that actually expected this tool to be a drill. I have used this model for over 6 years. My first one lasted over 3 years and I use in it my work 2-3 days a week. It never actually stopped working. The battery just got old and didn't hold a charge as long. An amazing amount of torque for a small driver. All of my employees use them and they hold a charge for a very long use and shelf time. I tried many brands prior to this one and none compared for the size.

We needed something for basic household needs like installing curtain rod holders and cabinet hinges. This tool is great for tight places. We are quite pleased with its performance.

Products features include a light. The screwdriver does everything as advertised. I do like the light. The only humbug issue I found was the reverse and forward switch has many flaws, like you have to pass through a null zone of forward or backward and all this could have been handled on the trigger switch. I dislike having to stop , change direction, then start again. I like the lithium ion battery

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DETech Was a good tool for a short time.
It was a good portable power screw driver while it lasted. About four months or so. I've actually used it for a dozen or so occasions. Then last week while mounting some rack equipment, heard a snap while screwing in a screw. No more rotation even though the motor is still running. You can feel the chuck trying to catch intermittently. I figured a gear had broken a tooth or two. Opened it up and sure thing, the gear was cracked in three places. Went online to see if I can salvage this $30+ screw driver. Turns out there are many people with the exact same issue on this screw driver and there are NO replacement parts available anywhere. Not even on the B&D site. Have a cheap $20 power screw driver the uses AA batteries I bought 4 years ago that is still going strong. I just wanted something as small that was rechargeable. This was the cheapest B&D power driver. I don't think I want to spend more for the next model up with this kind of quality. I think I will try a different brand. I would have reconsidered if I could have gotten a replacement gear but all that is offered anywhere online is the charger. Its just a $30 very dim flashlight now. Wish I had kept the receipt.
