Rated 5 out of 5Â by Greg Great product, does what it says it will do and more.
Great product, charges fast and lasts about 45 minutes on the high setting. The ability to go from low to high is neat because you may not need the high power all of the time. I love this feature.
I have a large yard and in the first charge, had everything done, no gas smell, pretty quiet and had charge left over.
Downside is that Depot does not carry it in stock at the stores, just the lower volt.
This is a great buy, happy.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by LeaningSun Powerful, lightweight
Works well, high rpm for chopping down tougher weeds. Decent battery life, light weight. However, if you are looking for a trimmer for basic yard maintenance I would go with the B&D 20v. It's handle design and angle are a bit more comfortable to hold, I like the location of the safety switch better and it's battery life is fabulous!! So if you need to chop heavier weeds, I'd say go with the 40v but you may want a second battery. For your normal routine yard maintenance, go with the 20v. It's an impressive, well designed, light weight trimmer with excellent battery life!!! I would highly recommend either of these products.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Kenneth Great purchase. A real winner!
I purchased this trimmer because I was tired of heavy, unbalanced trimers that left my arms aching, and struggling with lengthy extension cords that often became entangled in my wife's flower beds. Nor did I want the noise and maintenance problems of a gas trimmer. This Black and Decker battery-powered string trimmer turned out to be the perfect solution.
The overall design of the trimmer is far superior to that of any trimmer I had previously used. It is surprisingly light in weight, and has an adjusable-length shaft long enough for a 6-foot-plus operator to use it without having to bend at the waist. With the battery pack and motor mounted at opposite ends of the shaft, and an adjustable-position mid-shaft handle, a perfect balance can be obtained that greatly reduces arm strain.
The features I found especiallly useful are the Power Command dial and the single button release to convert to an edger. Without shifting the position of my hand on the grip, I can rotate the Power Command dial with my thumb (photo) to quickly switch between a lower-power, energy-saving setting while trimming grass to a higher-power setting that cuts readily through thick-stemmed weeds. I love the ease with which the trimer can be converted to an edger by simply pushing a button on the shaft (photo) and rotating the head 90 degrees - no loosening wing nuts or removing screws.
Finally, the battery has more than enough power for me to trim grass along 100 feet of flower beds and edge the lawn along 80 feet of sidewalk and curb without stopping to recharge. The Black and Decker 36 volt string trimmer is one of the best purchases of a lawncare power tool I have made.
