Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SARGE Excellent Cordless Trimmer!
I am very happy with my new B&D 36v string trimmer. Compared to my old 18v B&D the battery last longer and has way more power. I really like the power wheel. Low power for light trimming, higher power for tough jobs. You also don't need to keep battery in the charger like the older type batteries. Once it's charged, it will hold it's charge. I like the power indicator also on the battery. Auto feed works well too. This one is a no brainer. Order one now from Home Depot!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kenneth Great purchase. A real winner!
I purchased this trimmer because I was tired of heavy, unbalanced trimers that left my arms aching, and struggling with lengthy extension cords that often became entangled in my wife's flower beds. Nor did I want the noise and maintenance problems of a gas trimmer. This Black and Decker battery-powered string trimmer turned out to be the perfect solution.
The overall design of the trimmer is far superior to that of any trimmer I had previously used. It is surprisingly light in weight, and has an adjusable-length shaft long enough for a 6-foot-plus operator to use it without having to bend at the waist. With the battery pack and motor mounted at opposite ends of the shaft, and an adjustable-position mid-shaft handle, a perfect balance can be obtained that greatly reduces arm strain.
The features I found especiallly useful are the Power Command dial and the single button release to convert to an edger. Without shifting the position of my hand on the grip, I can rotate the Power Command dial with my thumb (photo) to quickly switch between a lower-power, energy-saving setting while trimming grass to a higher-power setting that cuts readily through thick-stemmed weeds. I love the ease with which the trimer can be converted to an edger by simply pushing a button on the shaft (photo) and rotating the head 90 degrees - no loosening wing nuts or removing screws.
Finally, the battery has more than enough power for me to trim grass along 100 feet of flower beds and edge the lawn along 80 feet of sidewalk and curb without stopping to recharge. The Black and Decker 36 volt string trimmer is one of the best purchases of a lawncare power tool I have made.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by QUser Excellent Product
I like the power settings, so that you can run it to conserve power but also have the capability of clearing difficult weeds. I have a half acre of lawn area and there is enough power to do all weeding on one charge. You need to use the lowest power setting to conserve the power but for us this is mostly grass that is easy to cut.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Greg Great product, does what it says it will do and more.
Great product, charges fast and lasts about 45 minutes on the high setting. The ability to go from low to high is neat because you may not need the high power all of the time. I love this feature.
I have a large yard and in the first charge, had everything done, no gas smell, pretty quiet and had charge left over.
Downside is that Depot does not carry it in stock at the stores, just the lower volt.
This is a great buy, happy.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CaretakerDave More power, no chord to pull, what's not to like?
As the caretaker of a luxury vacation rental, I have about 3.5 acres to mow every 5 days. Pulling the chord on a gas-powered string trimmer was aggravating my "tennis" elbow, so much so that I decided to check out cordless models. I'm glad I did.
I imagined having to use the gas-powered model for tough going. I was wrong. In fact, the cordless trimmer has way more power. I never need to turn it up past 2 for grass. Almost afraid to crank it up to 6! Plus, the straight shaft gives me much more sweep area. The new trimmer is faster than the old.
Best purchase I've made in a long time. No more pulling chords for this caretaker!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Robert I've been needing something like this!
One of my biggest frustrations about outdoor maintenance has been two-cycle engines that don't want to start or quit after they do start. I've spent more time swearing at my gas trimmer than using it.
I saw this in Home Depot, heavily marked down, and decided to give it a try. It absolutely did not disappoint.
I have not tried in in heavy, woody weeds, and probably won't. It has plenty of power for trimming the grass around my house, all my trees and a couple of ditch lines on a single charge. Assembly was simple, too.
This tool has turned a job I dreaded into one I do not mind. Isn't that what tools are for?
