Answer:
A regular drill like this can drill concrete/masonry/rock but it would probably be quite slow. To efficiently drill in concrete/masonry/rock you should use a hammer drill.

5.2 Amp 3/8 in. Drill/Driver is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase The drill is an inexpensive, light weight, variable speed unit with all (most) of the bells and whistles. I've only used it once, but not having the heavy battery on the handle made it easier to use and less tiring. Also, it's always available because there is no worry about whether it's charged or not.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ok for small projects This is ok for very minor projects. I purchased this because I was tired of my cordless drill. I'm no tool expert, but I am now online researching for another drill. The tool bits come loose and get stuck, and the power lacks. I guess I need amps. Use this for only minor projects and your be ok, but beware those drill bits come loose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst drill I have ever owned. Hand chuck would never tighten properly. Bits would not stay tight. Hard to get a hand-hold on chuck to hand tighten - too small. Often had to use two channel locks to tighten and untighten. Black and Decker should improve on the spare bit holder. It is currently located at base of handle. Bit tends to cut into your lower palm. Plus not happy with reversible switch. Rough movement, slips out of position easily. Do not buy. Have a nice day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Durable I bought item about a year ago, specifically for the keyless chuck feature, and have had issues since purchasing. Bits tend to loosen easily during use, and yesterday I had a bit fall out and the chuck is now jammed. Even with two wrenches not able to loosen the chuck piece. Expected product to perform longer than just a year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B&D Drill/Driver This drill is exactly what I was looking for - compact and light weight for indoor projects!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great for my project I needed a 3/8" drill to be used with my old black and decker drill press. My cordless 3/8" drill didn't fit! I used it with a forstner drill bit to drill 35mm holes in the backs of cabinets for my new hinges. I did have to tighten the bit with pliers to keep it from loosening. I don't like the keyless drills, but that's what you get now. That was my only problem. I bought this drill only for my drill press, so don't have much comment on every day use. The built-in level would probably be nice for drilling holes by hand, but I didn't need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet smooth operation. The drill is very quiet smooth and dependable. So far, no problems. It does what it is suppose to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cord length is 6 ft, not 8 ft as in description I was looking for a light drill for small projects around the house. This one is lightweight and might have been ok for my purpose. Cord length was one relevant feature, this is why the item will go back. The specifications in the Home Depot description indicate 8 ft, but actually it's only 6 ft length, it's printed on the box by the manufacturer.
