This saw fell apart (the gear coupling the motor to the drive detached) several times.
I use it lightly so I expected more than three years from it.
I would get less than 1 m of operation out of it after using it when I took it apart and fixed it.
The floating pin within the drive gear must work it's way out. There was no evident wear.
Spend your money on a higher quality saw. Don't bother with B&D.

Great price, easy to hold, easy to insert blade. No problems so far.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by UTbadger ok for rough cuts
I bought this for around the house projects. It was plenty powerful and sturdy. The smart select on the side is nice if you are using it for a range of cutting applications and materials. I found it a bit overkill since I only wanted it for straight and curved cuts in wood. The rotary action makes for fast cuts. Overall I was not happy with the cutting accuracy. Just cutting 6 inches I was working hard to make a staight cut - and not being successful. Tried a variety of settings and made sure I was using the proper blade. It was just not an accuate enough saw for me so I returned it. I get by with a circular saw and maybe someday will step up to a table saw.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cupcake A great jigsaw
It is a great jigsaw for DIYers at the price point. What it matter the most is really saw blades rather than the saw itself. I wouldn't use the feature of "Accu-Bevel" cutting due to the dial is way off. I played around with Bevel dial without making any cuts, the dial is around 10 degree off if placing the number on the center.
Jigsaw is not designed for bevel cut anyway. For more accurate bevel cut, I would use miter saw. Overall, it is a decent jigsaw as long as people use it for what it is made for.

I bought this to finish building my outdoor patio. I am not a contractor just a semi-serious DIY'er. Has plenty of power. Feels great in my hand. Love the variable speed and a very easy to use quick release system which makes changing blades a breeze. Cuts fairly straight. I gave it 4 stars because of the confusing dial on the side. As far as I am concerned, it made no difference in any of my cuts or blade usage. Comes with a built-in blade storage and a free wood blade. Excellent for the price.

It got the job done at an excellent price tag. What I liked most is the blade compartment so when done easy to store and no hazard with leaving the too lwith a blade attached, yet plenty of space to store a few blades.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by weld387 Solid saw
I burned up my last one a few weeks ago. Bought this one to finish my wood stove hearth. It works great for home use. Feels heavy in your hand and has plenty enough power to make clean cuts. One needs to know a tools limits before giving a bad rating. I only gave it 4 stars because the 5th one is for a tools long life with normal useage. If your not a contractor this might be the saw for you?
