Customer Questions & Answers

Shop vac?

Can a shop vac be attached? If so, what's the diameter of the opening once bag is removed?
Asked by: Potentialbuyer
Not easily attached to any shop vac. I used an old discarded 1" inside diameter flex hose from my wife's CPAP breathing machine, but you could probably shop around for a 1" flex hose to attach it.

Is this a velcro backing?

To stick the sand paper on the sander is it a Velcro or a stick on sand paper
Asked by: Allan
Yes, velcro is the commercial name often known as hook and loop.

How does the sand disk attach to the sander?

Asked by: vanilla
It's just your typical hook and look (think Velcro) attachment. Just get an orbital sanding disk and stick it on there. Line up the holes and you're ready to go.

Hook and Loop Paper Change requires special brand of paper, not any old paper will fit this machine?

Asked by: Dave
I buy my Hook Loop paper from Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Woodcraft. All work perfect with this sander.

I haven't used as much as other reviewers but I can say it works. I made probably close to 30 walking sticks this past summer and it did a superb job. I bought the wrong sandpaper (not enough holes) but it still sanded fine. There's two downsides, hence the last star taken off. The dust bag, where it connects, seems a little fragile. I don't know how long the "locking tab" will last. Also, my hand cramps up after a couple minutes. I'm not real familiar with power sanders so I guess I can't say if its just this sander or if others are uncomfortable too. Hope this helps. Thanks for reading.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent for the price Bought this to sand my house siding after scraping for paint prep. I have a Black and Decker oscillating sander that has held up for years and a reciprocating saw that is higher quality. This feels a little lower quality than those tools but only costs 30$. Does the job fine. Seems good for occasional use. If it was for pro use would go with Dewalt or something and spend more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just ok I ran this sander for about 1-2 hours a day 3 days a week. This is my 3rd B&D sander in about 16 months and it quit yesterday. It did what I needed but after 3 of them (about $100) my next one will be a DeWalt or Milwaukee. The B&D should be fine for lighter projects but I was probably asking too much using them on 100 year old barn wood.

This sander is a great addition to my equipment as it creates less dust in the air and is light and easy to use. I have had the sander just a couple weeks and have used it several times to save me time and effort. Was cautious regarding the purchase but my fears are for naught. GREAT TOOL FOR THE TOOL CHEST.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BLACK+DECKER 5 in. Random Orbit Sander Disc Being disabled and only use of one hand this sander works perfectly. Not to powerful where my hand gets tired but enough to do the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for smaller jobs. This sander comes in handy for smaller jobs, big cabinets and such are not its forte. Easy clean up and not a lot of kickback.
