Yes, you get one preloaded spool, but I recommend getting one or two extra so that you dont have to wind a spool in the middle of trimming your yard

Yes. You get one spool of trimmer line, preloaded. I would go ahead and get another spool or two, so that you don't have to wind in the middle of trimming your yard, though. always keep a replacement wound and ready to go and you will avoid sitting in half-finished grass cursing about which way the line ought to wind. haha

The spool i fully loaded. And I buy Rhino .065 universal line to refill it. It has to be done neatly. Which is surprisingly easy to do compared to others I have tried. Some instructions come in the handbook.

I use a putty knife to scrap off the excess and then use water with a rag to clean all surfaces. Make sure the rag is wrung out well so as not to get any excess water inside.

I have an old scrub brush that I use to knock off the grass. I would NOT use water as that could send grass and dirt futher into the workings of the trimmer.

It does not come with an additional spool but I always buy a second one when I purchase the machine. That makes it easier to replace. I keep one in a package and then purchase another.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 240 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst purchase ever Compared to other plug-in electric string trimmers, I really liked the features and power of this model and was excited to bring it home. Unfortunately, it quit after five minutes of use. I was considering trading it out for another of the same model, but on my way into the store, another Home Depot customer asked me what happened, and told me that the exact issue happened to him with the same model - twice! So that settled that, no more Black and Decker tools for me. Been happy with my battery-powered Ryobi since then (I only have 2 small lawns to tend). May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality I purchase these trimmer one and a half years ago, I use it on my front yard, only, just for the edging part, it quit working on me it won’t get any power and now I am forced to get a new one. May 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of Money It was nice and cheap which is why I went for it, but really it should not allowed to be sold. If the string does come out like advertised you run out of string in 3 seconds. If it doesn't run, you spend so much time manually pulling the string out, it would be quicker to trim the lawn with nail clippers. Not impressed. May 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tiny dog likes tiny yard Works fine. Good deal. I bought it to "mow" my very tiny yard that's about 5'x5'. It does the job. I'm happy and so is our little Yorkie. May 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by broke in light use, less than one season trimmer head started to break off after only a few uses May 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst trimmer ever used I purchased this a week ago after my Greenworks trimmer fell apart. I assumed since it was Black & Decker it would be a good product even though I was a little reluctant because the box it came it was beat up a bit, as I notice many items purchased in the store are so not sure someone else returned it. Anyway when I first used it I thought it was great because it was lightweight but noticed that it seemed to be tossing hard pieces of dirt against my foot but then realized the line was way too long. I cut it shorter and then purchased a three pack of the recommended lines which was expensive at $20 but next time I used it with the new line it did the same thing. And it hurt me again because it just keeps extending the line and only lasted 5 minutes before running out. I am an older woman with a very large property to take care of and hate that I blew a total of $70 on this when I could have spent more and gotten a better one. I now wrap the line myself and it seems to work better. I would never purchase this again. May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by weed eater quick delivery, easy to assemble, powerful, fun to use. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful trimmer/edger Bought this about a week ago and just now put it together. I found the instructions a little difficult to follow. Had to flip back and forth several times to identify specific numbers with each additional step. A simple and separate set of illustrations would greatly help make set up really easy. Once I was done with the set up though it was fairly easy to get going. I found the machine to be powerful and capable of getting the toughest yard grass or weeds. A little heavier than I thought it would be but I guess, I can get used to it pretty soon I think. The only negative and disappointing thing was how little the initial string that came with the trimmer was. I was barely halfway through my front yard when the string run out. Good thing I had some extra same size string in the garage from my previous trimmer. I think, at least, half a spool of string with the initial purchase would not bankrupt B&D. April 24, 2016
