No, only the spool on the trimmer. You can buy a package of 3 for under $20 or you can wind your own string on the spool.

It does not come with an additional spool but I always buy a second one when I purchase the machine. That makes it easier to replace. I keep one in a package and then purchase another.

Yes, you get one preloaded spool, but I recommend getting one or two extra so that you dont have to wind a spool in the middle of trimming your yard

Yes. You get one spool of trimmer line, preloaded. I would go ahead and get another spool or two, so that you don't have to wind in the middle of trimming your yard, though. always keep a replacement wound and ready to go and you will avoid sitting in half-finished grass cursing about which way the line ought to wind. haha

The spool i fully loaded. And I buy Rhino .065 universal line to refill it. It has to be done neatly. Which is surprisingly easy to do compared to others I have tried. Some instructions come in the handbook.

I use a putty knife to scrap off the excess and then use water with a rag to clean all surfaces. Make sure the rag is wrung out well so as not to get any excess water inside.

Yes, but you need to be VERY careful because the string will break quickly. I recommend pouring vinegar mixed with some salt over the weeds in the sidewalk if you don't want to use a vegetation killer.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cannot use a grounded extension cord with this model--useless! I've purchased two of these. The first one had something rattling in the motor housing, so I returned it before fully assembling it. The replacement was assembled before I noticed that the plug does not take or allow room for a grounded extension cord--which I always use for outside work. The opening for the extension cord is too small for a standard outdoor grade cord. Calling Black & Decker, they insisted there was enough room for a 3-prong plug to fit; but my outdoor cord sure doesn't. I've purchased a lot of Black & Decker through the years and always thought they were great products. But the last few things I've bought from them have been sub-standard. July 20, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Useless for edging, do not buy. I bought this trimmer/edger mainly for edging. I had to return it after a couple of uses as it chews up reels of nylon strings when edging a few yards. It is really useless for edging because of this. I replaced it with a cordless 40 volt Black and Decker trimmer/edger and is quite happy with this one as a it works great for trimming and edging. October 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worked well for about 2 years - lots of power, I did not notice excessive use of line - but then the top bearing melted through the plastic housing, and it died. Poor design feature, in my opinion. And I could not find a site that sold replacement motors. So it is recycled... October 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Constant Feed Issues I've used Black & Decker electric trimmers for nearly 20 years. They used to last 5 years or more with no issues, but the life expectancy and quality has gotten worse with the last couple I've had. This model burned through line like nobody's business. I used to be able to mow several times before having to re-spool. Tonight, I went through 4 spools. I capped off the night by putting this piece of trash in the trash. I got a year and a half out of it, but it never quite worked right. I'm going to have to branch out and try something else. I'm done with Black & Decker. September 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Broken String loader Something is wrong or broken with the auto release for the wire. It can eat through 35ft of wire in less than ten minutes of use but when stopped the wire will stay locked in. I had to buy multiple spools to get a 8 by 10 ft area done the first time I used it. October 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by We returned it at first use Horrible , the string doesn't auto feed there is no button to press to release the spool to manually feed the string. October 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst trimmer I went from an older Black & Decker trimmer very similar to this one, what a difference. This model is very inferior, does not self feed, leaves a 12 inch path, you can see where you trimmed the edge of the lawn. If you hover higher, it does not trim the very edge where you need it. I've tried adjusting the handle higher, lower, angled, nothing helps, I am ready to trash it !!!! October 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Thanks Black and Decker I love it!! It's fast and powerful. The only thing I don't like is it appears to use the string too quickly. Nevertheless, I'm enjoying it! September 27, 2016
