This seems to be a question that should be answered in the product description. I'm looking for a small drill that runs off AA batteries, and I can't find one. Can you suggest something, if this one doesn't fill the bill?

Answer:
It is a good drill for gyp., plaster, plastic, wood. and other soft materials as well as a screwdriver.
It is not a good drill for metal. I might try mine on aluminum, however.

Answer:
You can use it as a drill if you buy special drill bits that have a hexagonal fitting on the end that inserts into the socket of this driver. I just bought a set of 4 such bits at Home Depot for about $6. Just keep in mind that you will only be able to do light-duty drilling with this little driver.

Answer:
Yes you can; it is a good drill for gyp., plastic and wood. No problem drilling into drywall. I would suggest, however, that a curtain rod should be screw attached to the wood framing. Just make sure you drill properly sized pilot holes into the wood before screwing.

Hi Tina, it will take you some time, but you can use this to drill holes and drive screws in light or soft material. Drywall is a soft material, so enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome This battery operated screwdriver is awesome. I was surprised how powerfully it worked. I bought it instead of a drill and I'm glad I did. I've used it to put up towel racks and large pictures.

This product uses four AA batteries which now days people want a rechargeable ones. What happens when the battery pack goes out, you throw away the driver as batteries are no longer available. With this you can replace the batteries and you're back in business or switch it to manual mode and twist it like a standard driver. Easy to use forward and reverse buttons. Only draw back is the driver tips are separate for Flat and Philips that have to be stored separately. Would like to have seen a bit that has the Flat or Phillip selection you need on each end. This is a simple driver for use for tightening up lose door knob screws, building furniture or any project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still works after sitting for years! I found this screwdriver in a tool bag that belonged to a contractor years before. I thought the batteries would be all corroded or that moisture would have destroyed it (I live in Hawaii where humidity and salt air destroy everything), but it was clean inside and just needed a new set of batteries. I am truly amazed as none of the tools like this one came even close to surviving their time in the storage shed! For the price and longevity, you really can't go wrong with this!!! I miss having tools and appliances that just lasted forever; everything you buy now seems predestined to fail after a few years or require maintenance regularly, so I am very happy to find this in such good shape!

NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from some what reluctance to rrecommend the first one I picked up at home depot and then tried it in the parking lot----did not work at all----took it back in and they also could not get it to work even with different batteries---they delivered the second one to my house--it is working but the I think the drive has a very slight wobble in it but it is not perfect ----I use it for a kitchen cabinet replacement and had to change batteries about 75 percent into the job---that the only great thing about it---you can replace the batteries--

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even worth $6. I was disappointed that the battery was not built-in and had a charger. I guess I didn't read the product description well. I hardly used it and the batteries went dead sitting in my garage. I don't think I will buy new batteries and just throw it away.

But I was able to put a throw bolt lock on my elderly aunt's bedroom door with very little effort. Worked great! Batteries must be removed to prevent leakage when not using for long periods of time. Rate this battery operated screwdriver at 5 STARS, and recommend for light projects.

For what I paid for it (11.00) it is worth it. works fine for small screws, more power than I thought it would have. Forward and back switches are very sensitive, so all you have to do is just barely touch them, and the bit is turning. But it does the job.
