If your situation absolutely requires sanding the door edge rather than trimming it, be sure to clamp a strip of 1x2 to each side of your door's edge - 1/4" down from the edge. That way you'll have a forced "stop" while you're sanding, and you won't wind up with a wavy door edge. It will take a pretty coarse grit to remove 1/4" of material, and it may take a while. Answer:
If you mean the edge, yes that could be done, but it would take a long time (depends upon the type of wood) and would be hard to keep even. A better option would be a table saw (and some help) or a circular saw and a guide. If you cannot do that, a router and a guide would still be easier than the sander.

HI! I am planning on getting this one to sand my old floors, this picture show the stain removed but i must remove the stain. For what i read this machine should work great. Anyone knows an average of square feet that I may need to remove the belt for a new one? I will like to get them at the same time.
Thank you!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Black & decker 7amp 3in x 21 in Really good work done perfect with the right sand paper May 20, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dragster Belt Sander The belt sander was light weight and easy to use for small projects, however the front pulley guide did not last. It wore out after only15 hours of use. It is not designed for heavy duty use. September 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good tool I like being able to flip up guard to get in tight places but the belt seems to wander a lot. I have never owned a belt sander and don't know if this is common or not March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT belt sander I really can't complain about this belt sander. I used it for something that it really should NOT have been able to do and it worked GREAT... I used it to sand 70 yr. old hardwood floors. It took 3 days and a boat load of dust (albeit the sander actually collected most of it in the bag... you just have to empty the bag every 25 sq. ft. or so), but my floor looks GREAT. I haven't put my 2 coats of poly on there yet, but WOW. I'm uploading a before and after photo for those who want to see. The before photo was taken 2 years ago with a different camera but you should still be able to get the jest of the improvement. It's PHENOMINAL! Took away 70 years worth of caked on brown grime, filth, & stains. BTW, I returned the Ryobi 6 amp yellow sander (3 x 18 inch) to get this one. It didn't work any where NEAR as well, surprisingly... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works just fine! Needed a sander to fit in right spots. Found this. Read lots of reviews and pondered the mixed bag. The biggest was the belt walking off track. Weighed it against what I needed and took the chance. Read the instructions and adjusted the tracking accordingly. Went through 5 belts over the period of two days with naery a problem. I did find that the dust bag didn't work exceptionally well, but hey, I'm was chewing through wood with 80 grit. My orbital sander throws off more dust. I did take a break every couple of hours and blew it out with my compressor. Kept the motor cooler and the track cleaner. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2nd one i bought Does everything i need. Had one of these before and lost it, liked it so i bought another one.. January 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good sander at a great price I have found this to be an excellent product for the price. Is it the best belt sander in the world? No...but then again, it's also $60, no $200+. I bought this primarily to speed up a project of building a solid workbench top from 2x4's, and it did exactly what I needed it to do....smooth out the top of the bench quickly. The most common complaint seems to be with the tracking...yes, it could be better, but it's not as bad as people are making it out to be...before you start using it, spend 30 seconds adjusting the tracking and you're set...once adjusted I didn't touch the tracking for the whole time I was using it (about 2hrs). I also have found the speed and 7amp motor more than sufficient for anything I'm going to use it for. Really, my only complaints are minor for a sander in this price range. One is the abundant use of plastic. There are some areas, such as the belt tension adjustment lever, that are plastic when I feel they should be steel. I can see this breaking if used heavily and the user isn't extra careful. My other complaint is the dust collection system. It's a complete joke...my workbench was covered in sawdust mere seconds after I started sanding. To be honest, I didn't really expect it not to be, and it didn't make the sander any less effective, but to advertise "dust collection bag helps keep your work area sawdust free" is completely false. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. If you need a belt sander for everyday use, spring for a higher-end sander...but, if like me you have the occasional home project that calls for one, this should get you by, and for $60, you can't really go wrong.
