Is it self oiling

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Allan
No, it is not self oiling. It does not have an oil reservoir. There is a little oil bottle included (should be) that you put the chainsaw bar oil in (or 30wt engine oil) and you MANUALLY oil the chain/bar. It is done by lifting the chain out of the track just a bit and placing a dab of oil. A "dab" is what I call it. I don't recall the frequency of oiling according to the manual, but I would say oil it every 3-5 cuts you do if using it a lot.

Does the head swivel?

I have some old laurel bushes that I need to trim usually twice a year and would like to use one of these electric pole saws, but if the head doesn't swivel it won't be much use since to cut the top of the bushes I'd be cutting horizontally instead of cutting branches in a vertical manner. I've used hedge trimmers before but many of the branches are too big for the trimmer openings (greater than half-inch diameter), so I've always had to pull out the lopping shears and go one branch at a time. I've even tried using a sawzall with a coarse blade but that weighs a ton. I'd like to hear suggestions on whether this pole saw #or other makes) would be useful, or if there's anything else out there that might work.

Does this pole saw come assembled? Purchased one pole saw and the blade needs attaching. Never put one together before

Asked by: Renee
The chain saw comes in three pieces each about three feet long: the handle where the battery attaches, the extension pole, and the chain (saw) with motor. The extension pole is optional when connecting them. The connectors are large for easy attachment and fit easily together. So the chain saw is fully assembled and just needs only to be put together at the connectors and the battery inserted at the handle.

8 in. 20-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Pole Saw is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from B&D Pole saw OMG, the best!! I am a 63 year old single woman, living on acreage. I have a chainsaw, but since the purchase of my pole saw, It will never be touched again; unless a whole tree needs to be cut down. Pole saw is Very manageable, sure easy start, effortless cuts and very good battery life (lasts longer than me). Personally, I give it an "A", only reason not an "A+" is because I'm waiting to see if there are any maintenance issues and the longevity of product. So for performance, an easy "A". (Anybody need a chainsaw? Lol). Because of my satisfaction with the pole saw, I will be purchasing the battery powered blower and hedge trimmer this winter. My pole saw and I are now constantly hunting for more stuff to cut "git-r-done"

Does exactly what I hoped it would. Extremely easy to use and to set up. At first feels a little awkward but you adjust to that rather quickly. Battery power and charge is more than enough for trimming my live oaks. The only gripe I have is that they don't include a small bottle of bar oil to get you started, that would be handy, instead of having to make a trip to buy a quart of the stuff that I am guessing I won't use in a lifetime of trimming. Overall I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to do their own trimming.

It is very easy to assemble and I was impressed how quickly it cut through 3-4 inch limbs with ease . Even though I have only used it once so far, it met all my expectations.

Out of the box, and with a fully charged battery, this cordless saw went into immediate use trimming limbs on a difficult to reach tree standing high above the water. I am quite tall, and with the easily applied extension piece (careful you lock it in securely), I could reach up from a small ladder off of the wooden landing to trim the tree. The two screws really do need to be tightened, and one does need to oil the chain prior to each; the cutting is phenomenal, however - all one needs to do is engage the motor and softly drop the cutting blade onto the piece of wood to be cut. The blade engages and pulls itself through the limb. A back up battery is really mandatory; one doesn't last as long as indicated - and they do require several hours to recharge. However, the value of this tool is superb. I had to construct a bag to put (and carry it with) it in -- a simple canvas bag, as part of the package, would be nice. However, I have no real complaints compared to other chain saws that I've used, gas or electric. I've been de-limbing now for weeks, and after the job off of the small wooden platform, I'm ready for most limbs under 5-7 inches in diameter. I highly recommend the Black and Decker.
