It comes in three pieces that need to be screwed together. This is super easy to do and is how you adjust the length.

Does the head swivel?

This question is from 8 in. 20-Volt Lithium-ion Electric Cordless Pole Saw

I have some old laurel bushes that I need to trim usually twice a year and would like to use one of these electric pole saws, but if the head doesn't swivel it won't be much use since to cut the top of the bushes I'd be cutting horizontally instead of cutting branches in a vertical manner. I've used hedge trimmers before but many of the branches are too big for the trimmer openings (greater than half-inch diameter), so I've always had to pull out the lopping shears and go one branch at a time. I've even tried using a sawzall with a coarse blade but that weighs a ton.
I'd like to hear suggestions on whether this pole saw #or other makes) would be useful, or if there's anything else out there that might work.

Answer:
My pole saw came with model LBXR20. It is great because I have other B&D tools and can interchange the battery. I did buy a couple more so that I always have one ready to go.
This is a great saw.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 71 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! Only chain saw most people will ever need! Great Product! I rarely ever use my other chain saw that I bought before this saw. The saw is very versatile. It is lightweight and easy to handle. It extends up to 8 feet with the extension pole provided. I have used it on braches and tree trunks up to 10 inches in diameter. The batteries are quick charging usually charging in about an hour. For most home owners its the only chain saw they will ever need. Unfortunately it is not carried in your local Home Depot store. However you can order it online and it only takes a few days to receive it. There generally is no charge for shipping. August 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Buy A nice surprise for me was how much the pole can flex, as example, I used another limb as leverage so all I had to do was pull back with one hand & the trees did the work for me. I had the pole flexed like 3 feet & it springs right back. The saw is very light & durable. I did buy extra batteries & would recommend that. The saw can handle thicker limbs, but expect to run through batteries much faster on them as its a constant cut under heavy load versus lighter limbs which are just chop cuts... Good buy for home use. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I like it !! This pole saw came in three pieces. With just two pieces, the power head and the saw it is extremely easy to use and does an excellent job. My initial use included trimming a Birch tree, several Cottonwoods, an English Walnut and several Black Locus trees. All on the original battery charge and there was power left over. With the third or center section installed the length is such that use at a large angle is difficult, however the closer to overhead you get the easier it is to use. I would and have highly recommended this tool to others. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Black & Decker pole saw. I bought this to trim low-hanging branches that surround our little piece of the Earth. It does a great job, BUT, make sure you keep chain sharp! Avoid hitting the ground, dirt, etc. Look out for getting into vines, small stuff. they will clog up the saw. Like the instructions say, "let gravity do the work". But keep the chain sharp. I have been getting 20 to 30 minutes per charge, which is enough for me to get the tasks done I want. An additional battery would not hurt. Thinking of getting a B&D cordless hedge trimmer now that uses the same battery. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Work and back saver! very efficient tool, keep it oiled and sharp and it will get you great results, not only for the high places but also for those on the ground, I use it to cut wild rose and invasive honeysuckle. Trimmed a neighbors dead and imposing oak branches that lined their drive in no time flat. no stopping and starting noisy engine oil or fumes... of course I exhausted 3 batteries worth of energy but hey, btw where did I put those solar panels... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME SAW!! I do not write many reveiws so I know by me writing this it has got to be an EXCELLANT product! I have owned one of these (same one) for at least 5 yrs. now and it is still going strong. Just completed cropping a LARGE Jacaranda tree. We took 12ft. plus limbs out and the limbs on some of them were at least 6 to 8 inches in diameter. The only things I would recommend is clean saw after every use and store in its carrier (not sure if it comes with that anymore) and oil it. Have not had to replace chain yet. I would also recommend having at least 3 charged batteries total for a large job. It pays for itself if you think how much it would cost you to hire someone to do it. They wanted $400.- to do what I just completed!! March 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I was looking for. Easy to add extension to pole. Easy to use. Light enough to hold for extended amount of time. One battery doesn't hold a charge long enough for my needs, I recommend getting a second battery . August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Complete Fail!!! very disappointed with the product. i have other b&d lawn tools, so i thought the pole saw would be a solid choice. i used the saw for 1/2 hour on less than 6" tree limbs. within that short time, the chain popped off 5 times. each time, i had to stop and take the tool apart and reattached the chain. after 5 tries, i gave up and returned the item. other users love and recommend the tool, but i would be concerned.
