Rated 5 out of 5Â by Rabbit72 Outstanding Tool!
I bought the Black and Decker rechargeable hedge trimmer earlier and wanted a second battery. Rather than just get a battery, I decided to get another tool with the same battery. This saw does an amazing job for its small size. I really put it through some tough jobs with some small trees I cut down, more than was recommended by the saw's specs. Having more than one battery is a must... larger limbs will eat up the power quickly when sawing large limbs into firewood sized logs. It is lightweight but powerful and tough. We nicknamed it the "Little Wonder" for all the tough jobs it handled so far! Great Purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by gilbey04 Battery Powered Chainsaw, it is what it is...
I bought this chain-saw because I find Black & Decker products easy-to-use and typically very durable for an average homeowner. I had read reviews about how it's difficult to assemble, but I didn't run into an issue as there are only 2 or 3 separate pieces - I just found the chain requires a good amount of tensioning in the beginning.
This chainsaw fits the description. I bought the chainsaw because I had a walnut tree shedding decent sized braches (anywhere from 1-6 inches diameter) due to the drought, and I was tired of chopping the entire limb up with an axe. I think the chainsaw lives up to the description, if not exeeds. Coincidentally, the day the chainsaw arrived, a larger (and almost the entire limb) of the tree snapped so I got to test the chain-saw to the extremes. It was able to handle 1-4 inches easily, 6 inches with some push, and 8-10 inches if I worked at it.
As previous reviews stated, I was aware I would need extra batteries. I already had the 20V trimmer, which was provided with 2 batteries and a charger. So I now have 3 batteries and 2 chargers. If making small cuts (2-4 inches) you'll have no issues. For the larger cuts (6-10 inches) you may only get a few full cuts in before the battery needs recharging. The largest limb was directly off the trunk and was about a 16 inch diameter. It took a few charges (maybe 5 batteries worth), but was able to make a clean cut. Keep in mind it was a walnut tree. (I'm not a tree expert, but it felt like the outer lighter colored wood was relatively soft for a hard-wood, whereas the interior darker wood was extremely hard. I broke a new axe trying to chop through about a 14 inch diameter, thus the chainsaw)
All-in all - if you're taking down an entire tree, this is not the chainsaw for you. If you're doing typical seasonal trimming or have some stray branches, I'd recommend it. Push-button start, nice and quiet, and VERY mobile and lightweight with surprisingly more power than you'd expect from that tiny 20V battery!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by easttxgranny cordless chain saw
I bought this to cut down a tree, but when I got the saw it is smaller than what I expected and does not have enough power to cut down a tree, unless it is a very small one. I did use it to cut up limbs and it did a good job on that.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Wall700 B&D ChainSaw
After contemplating whether to bur a gas powered or battery decided to go with this one which is adequate. It definitely has limited capabilities but is fine for cutting branches of 5" to 7" in diameter (and that may be pushing it) beyond that not recommended. The up side is battery powered, easy to start, clean and does its job ... I hope to get some mileage out of these lithium batteries (you need more than one as they drain pretty quick) which is the one area of concern. The B&D lithium batteries are not always dependable ... but so far so good!

This cordless chain saw is ideal for occasional use. It will cut small trees and limbs with ease. While I use my heavy duty chain saw to cut up a downed tree, my wife can use the Black and Decker to cut the branches. It's lightweight and the charge lasts surprisingly long.
