Customer Questions & Answers

Can you use the Alligator 6" Electric Lopper to cut out thick tree branch roots?

I am digging a whole for a shrub and have come across a thick tree branch root that is in the way (a remnant from a tree that had been removed). My manual hand loppers won't cut it out. Will the electric loppers work?
Asked by: ccav
No, cutting wood in contact with soil or sand will dull the chain.

Cuts flush or leaves stubs?

I need a light weight one for fruit tree pruning. I'm debating on this one or the B+D 3.4 Amp Powered Handsaw. Is this alligator lopper able to cut flush to the main limbs or does it leaves little stubs? Thank you!
Asked by: Gardening
It cuts fairly close to the trunk, but leaves small stubs.

I wish they would bring back the battery operated version ( which lasted 4 years!) just because the cord is so short! I knew I would be dragging the extension cord around, but the cord is so short it makes it heavy to hold over your head with the heavy extension cord. I am using a 100 foot plus. I let my teenagers use it to cut "firewood" for the fire pit without any concern. Works great on anything less than 2" around or so, a bit more work and you have to go off and on anything larger. For general small brush and limb clearing it makes it a breeze.

Have been using it for trimming trees and big shrubs in my yard. It allows me to cut big limbs into much smaller pieces letting me fit so much more into my yard waste container. My only complaint is that the chain comes off too frequently, but it is pretty easy to but back on and I read that keeping the oil level high helps (and I think it does).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good tool for the job. Alligator 6 in. 4.5 Amp Electric Lopper - I read and watched reviews on this product before buying. Any complaints I found were due to misuse in my opinion. Over working or cutting something too big for the tool. We used it so far to cut back bushes growing wild and out of control hedges. I has performed great.

The unit works very well and made fast work of a small olive tree I needed to remove. The only concern is filling the chain oil reservoir. The small bottle provided to fill the reservoir does not work and oil goes everywhere but in the reservoir.

No one could use single branch loppers to trim back 15 feet of wild forsythia. These did the job in 90 mins. Also used them to trim lower branches to make grass cutting easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this saw I bought this saw to do some trimming around the yard. It has exceeded my expectations. It is not too heavy and easy to use. I'm now looking at my neighbors yard to see what I can trim

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safest type chain saw. This is the second one of these I have purchased. The first one lasted a long time even though I used it very hard. I don't know of any other type of chain saw that is safer to use.
