I am digging a whole for a shrub and have come across a thick tree branch root that is in the way (a remnant from a tree that had been removed). My manual hand loppers won't cut it out. Will the electric loppers work?

Well i would say yes as long as you brush the dirt away or it will dull the chain very quickly. Hope this helps!

Answer:
You can either use straight 30 motor oil or bar and chain oil according to the manual.
I'm using straight 30 because I had some laying around.

I need a light weight one for fruit tree pruning. I'm debating on this one or the B+D 3.4 Amp Powered Handsaw. Is this alligator lopper able to cut flush to the main limbs or does it leaves little stubs? Thank you!

Answer:
I used this for ground level and you can get it pretty flush but you will have to snug it up to the tree or bush. Got it low enough to use the mower with no trouble. Easy to use and sharpen of you need to. This is my second one. It's lighter and easier than a chain saw

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 200 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I wish they would bring back the battery operated version ( which lasted 4 years!) just because the cord is so short! I knew I would be dragging the extension cord around, but the cord is so short it makes it heavy to hold over your head with the heavy extension cord. I am using a 100 foot plus. I let my teenagers use it to cut "firewood" for the fire pit without any concern. Works great on anything less than 2" around or so, a bit more work and you have to go off and on anything larger. For general small brush and limb clearing it makes it a breeze. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy tool Easy to use for anybody. Good safety features to reduce possibility of accidents. October 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good tool for the job. Alligator 6 in. 4.5 Amp Electric Lopper - I read and watched reviews on this product before buying. Any complaints I found were due to misuse in my opinion. Over working or cutting something too big for the tool. We used it so far to cut back bushes growing wild and out of control hedges. I has performed great. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Black & Decker alligator chainsaw Black & Decker alligator chainsaw is awesome!! It's so easy to handle. Very safe also. I was able to cut down branches with ease and then cut each branch into smaller pieces for removal . I love love love my alligator chainsaw . It's perfect for a woman like me that has no experience in cutting things down. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this saw I bought this saw to do some trimming around the yard. It has exceeded my expectations. It is not too heavy and easy to use. I'm now looking at my neighbors yard to see what I can trim October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very useful - much more than just a lopper I bought this electric lopper due to tendonitis pain when using manual loppers on high volumes of limbs to cut up. The virtually effortless action of using these solved the tendonitis issue. The jaws allow the trimming of piles of limbs without separating them and the ability to go up to 4" diameter far exceeds anything you could cut with manual loppers. This tool is basically a small electric chainsaw with jaws to contain the limb you are cutting. Very pleased with the performance, The only design issue is the "automatic" oiler and the very poor quality oil bottle that comes with it. I threw the bottle away and just put a few drops on the chain bar every ten minutes of cutting and it works fine. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful This is great! A lot of time your disappointed by the things you buy, but not this one. It does exactly what it says it will do. Very useful tool! August 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A must have tool for the DIYer I was really pleased with the performance of this tool. I used it a significant amount over the course of an 8 hour period with absolutely no problems whatsoever! It was safe enough for me to allow my young teen nephews to use with now worries (supervised, of course). I cut through 4 in limbs with very little effort at all. The ONLY reason I did not give it a 5th star was the oil reservoir. Having to stop every ten minutes to oil the bar is annoying, and I'll admit i exceeded that limit a few times with no noticeable issues. The oil bottle that comes with the product is a piece of garbage, but that is not an issue with the unit. A separate oilier will do nicely. June 19, 2016
