The unit's fabric-select dial and convenient fabric guide make it easy to choose the right amount of heat needed for the job, while its aluminum soleplate creates crisp creases and comes with a pointed tip that works well for getting into pleats, between buttons, and along seams. Other highlights include an "on" indicator light, a thumb-activated steam-surge button, an anti-drip system that prevents water spotting at low temperatures, a pivoting cord, and a stable heel rest. For enhanced safety and peace of mind, the iron will shut off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity if left on its soleplate or tipped over on its side; if left vertically on its heel rest, it will shut off after 8 minutes.

Classic Iron with Aluminum Soleplate is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It doesn't even work!!! This iron has a mind of its own!!! Doesn't matter which way I laid it, the power indicator flickered green but then turned off right away. Couldn't get it to heat up! Brrrr. I'm returning it to get a different brand. How disappointing!!! Used to be my favorite!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as it used to be I bought this iron several months ago, and I'm very unhappy with it! The iron spits water out constantly from the bottom, and leaks from the reservoir opening. I have taken to putting just a tad bit of water in the iron to use on the steam setting to try to avoid the water spitting out. Even that doesn't seem to help. I can never iron something at the last minute because all of the water spitting out leaves the clothes damp. I am ironing right now, and have decided that I am throwing this iron away and going back to another brand that I used prior. The newer version of the Classic iron is certainly not as well-made as the original.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what it use to be! I have been using this iron my whole life, but I've noticed the last three I have purchased have been really bad irons. It feels and looks the same, but they don't heat up as well, they leak, and doesn't produce the steam they use to. I've always bought this iron because of how well it use to be. Please make it the way you use to! I use to could by a iron and it would last at least 2 years. I've barely got two months out of this one and I've hated it from day 1. I should have took it back!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Iron - Doesn't Leak Finally an iron that doesn't leak or spit water. I've owned irons that cost 3 or 4 times this one but they all would leak. The only think I wish this iron had is a stainless steel soleplate. It doesn't glide as smooth as irons with a stainless steel soleplate. That being said, I still prefer it over my more expensive German made iron

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black and Decker Iron This is actually my first time buying an iron. I had a great experience with this. It did what it was supposed to do. This item is very high quality. *I received this for free from Spectrum for my honest opinion.* [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This is a great iron when it is working ! This is the third one of this model purchased ! I am old fashioned and don't wear anything unless it is ironed , so I expect an iron to work properly as I depend on it . This is not an occasionally used iron . Another big problem with this iron is it leaks brownish water on your clothes, which is what prompted this feedback . The reason I went with this classic iron is because it looks just like the one my mom had when I was a kid and it lasted forever , but as with all modern products , it seemed they are designed to fail rather than designed to last ! I guess that sells more products . Great iron when working properly .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still using it, still happy! An iron may be just a simple household item, but around here we are big fans of things that are built well and work well -- and this iron fits the bill on both counts! We love this iron. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Features I bought this iron about a year ago and its turns off and on. Won't heat at times. I really like the iron so I bought a second one hoping this one will last longer.
