I bought this item because the bag attachment that comes with my leaf blower requires emptying too often.
The process of attaching the collector to my trash can is awkward and the drawstring that is supposed to hold it in place is not strong enough. I remedied that by tucking the collector under bungee cords that I wrapped around the can. Also be aware that you will get covered in dust from blow back coming out of the can while you vacuum and a mask of some sort to cut down on the amount of dust you inhale is a good idea.
Once you've worked out all of those little hiccups, make sure you've go a really big trash can (45 gallon or so) and strong trash bags, because you're going to get carried away and just want to keep going and going because the job just got so much easier.
If you're thinking about it, get it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DeSotoBear Alternative Approach for Leaf Collection
My customary use of the Black & Decker Vortex yard vac/blower involved using the bag for collecting leaves and other yard debris. When I recently noticed the availability of the Leaf Collection System, intended to be used in collection with a trash can, I decided to make the purchase and have found it a good alternative to the regular bag when it comes to vacuuming up leaves. With this attachment, the leaves are deposited directly into a trash can (lined with a plastic yard bag). When the trash can is full, the user removes the cloth cover and then removes and ties up the trash bag. The system works fine, with no adapter needed for use with the vortex, but comes with two additional adapters to make it compatible with some other yard vacs.
The elastic tie that is built into the cloth trash-can cover is not particularly robust, so I have resorted to the use of two bungie cords that will give me the length needed to go all the way around my plastic trash can and right under the lip of the can. This approach more effectively directs leaf fragments into the trash can instead of allowing them to accumulate between the rim of the can and the overhanging excess of cloth covering.
I had my unit delivered to my nearest Home Depot store and thus saved myself the shipping charges.

We've had this attachment for our Leaf Hog blower/vac for 6 or 7 years now. It saves us time when we bag leaves for collection each year on our heavily wooded lot. We put a clear lawn and leaf bag into a Rubbermaid trash can, and put the cover on top. I replaced the clamp on the drawstring with one that worked better, and we have pushed the hose about 6 inches into the elastic band to keep it from blowing out. We have had issues with blow-outs and clogs that are frustrating, but not nearly as frustrating as trying to scoop leaves into the bags with a rake. It saves on bags too, because you can get a lot more mulched leaves into a bag than unmulched leaves. Sometimes sticks have gotten into the vac and have punctured holes in the hose, so ours has areas where it's patched with duct tape, but it's lasted pretty well. The mesh of the cover has worn out around the elastic band now, so we're shopping for another. I have found that mulching them once with no attachment on and then picking them up with this attached to the can is very effective as far as avoiding clogs. I blow the leaves down to the ditch, then mulch them once, blow them into a more compact pile, then vacuum them into the bags. I cannot imagine trying to get our leaves up without it. It will be dusty and messy, so make sure you wear a mask when you are using this attachment.

I bought this to use as a chip collection system for my De Walt DW735 Planer. It works great, I just removed the end that would go on the leaf blower and fitted it to a 4" swivel 90 with a pipe clamp. Still too dusty to use indoors but the storm of flying shavings ends up neatly in a trash can.

I have had this collection system for the past three seasons. I agree with the dust issue but I understand that the cover has to flow a lot of air. I had issues with the hose coming out of the cover but fixed that with a long wire tie. The can used to fall over but I put 2 blicks in the bottom and solved that. Note that they are easy to fish out even if the can is full of leaves. The quick hose release on the vacuum end has never worked very easy but I usually just leave it attatched between uses. In all this is a great idea and way better than using the heavy bag the yard vac comes with.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pjatmiddleburg good product - I don't see anything like it for the price.
I would recommend this attachment to pickup leaf piles - it makes it a lot easier. I used it on my B&D blower/vac attached to my trash can which is in a small utility wagon. I can pull the wagon around as needed from leaf pile to pile in the yard - the hose is long enough for this type of pickup and the top fits nicely onto the can without coming off...

I used the unit for a couple of days before holes were torn in the hose near the connection to the blower. I assumed I must have picked up some twigs or mulch, which created the holes. I purchased a second unit and within a day I had the same problem.
I have purchased previous versions of this unit and never had a tear in the hose. The material used construct the hose is too thin.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Van888 This is a great concept, but a disaster in practice. Huge DUST cloud!
As others have said, its a bit difficult to assemble. The attachment to the vacuum is fine but getting the cover to hold on the trash can is a bit tricky and getting the hose attached to the trash can cover was tricky as well. So, OK, I get it all put together and try it out on a pile of leaves to see how well this whole setup will work. Holy Moly and OMG! As soon as I sucked up some leaves this huge dust cloud of mulched leaves started blowing out of the cover to the trash. There wasn't a hole or error in making the attachment, but all the dust was blowing out of the mesh covering. The mesh is too coarse to keep the debris in the container where it belongs. Dust covered EVERYTHING! My blower/Vac unit, me, the cars parked in the street. I just had to return the unit as this was so not going to work out. If you really want this thing, use a respirator mask and goggles and old clothes! Do not get this attachment! I was a great idea, but poor reality!
