Product Overview

BRK's Hardwire Ionization Sensor Smoke Alarm detects flaming fires and runs on a battery backup when your power is out. This alarm will sound if it detects smoke even during power outages. It is made for hardwire installation and uses a 9-Volt backup battery. The ionization sensor detects fast flaming fires that consume combustible materials. Other features include a test and silence button, a latching indicator that remembers which unit initiated the alarm and smart technology that helps reduce false alarms. The 9120B can be connected to (18) devices including, (12) compatible smoke alarms and (6) compatible devices like bells, horns, repeaters and door closers. If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. The 9120B features a perfect mount system with a gasket-less base for easy installation, a new mounting bracket that keeps the alarm secure over a wide rotation range for perfect alignment and a mounting bracket lock for tamper resistance. A dust cover keeps the unit clean during construction. Engineered for residential and institutional use, this detector is perfect for dormitories and multi-family dwellings. BRK's Hardwire Ionization Sensor Smoke Alarm is warranted to the original purchaser for a period of 10-years. First Alert invests time and research into providing dependable and hardworking products. I have Model 4120B

Ours are chirping, even with the new batteries. Will this 6-pk work?
Asked by: Con
I had the same issue. I replaced the 4120 with the 9120 and everything was golden. All you need to do is remove the 4120. Loosen the two retaining screws and slide the old base off. Slide the new 9120 base on and plug in the power and twist the 9120 on the base. It took me a whole 2 minutes per detector to do the swap. No more chirping or false alarms.

I currently have 6 BRK model 4120 B smoke alarms with a 3 pin connector. Will model # 9120 B6CP interchange with those?

Asked by: Curt
I have the 4120s too, and the product image that shows the back of the mounting plate also shows the connection, which looks like the same connector to me.

This replaces the 4919? Do I need to replace the mounting also? Is the wire connection still the same as 4919? Thanks

Only thing I had to change were the trim rings which were slightly larger than the older ones, and that was a 2 screw loosen and tighten operation. Basically it was a plug and play replacement. If they perform like the old units there should be no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy as can be I don't think you'll believe me when I tell you this was the easiest fix to a home inspection I've ever done. I wasn't aware you're supposed to replace your smoke detectors every ten years. If you buy these, you'll wish it was more often! It took me longer to move the ladder to each spot than to switch out the units. I had to replace four units and it took 20 minutes. So simple, rotate and unplug old base, loosen the two screws to cradle and rotate off the cradle. Remove new base from new cradle, slip new cradle into place and tighten screws. Plug in new base, rotate onto new cradle. Test. Wow, took longer to write this than to replace a unit. The worst part of this whole installation was the noise swapping out alarms.

I bought these smoke alarms to replace our existing smoke alarms that are hardwired in our home. There were simple to install and work as described. One thing I do not like about the design on these smoke alarms is that the indicator light is hard to see.
