As with all new experiences the first one was the hardest. Each one got easier. The amount of pre-stripped wire for the 120 plug in was a little optimistic. I ended up taking off another 1/8" of insulation in order to get a good wrap. I was also surprised that the units do not lock in place, but they really don't need to. If there is one fault it's that the indicator light is extremely hard to see unless you are directly under it. It's small and dim. I suppose they were thinking of keeping the rooms dark at night. I was used to a much brighter light on the old smoke alarms. So far all 9 that I replaced are without any fault. I just hope they work when needed. Charles

Installation was easy and it appears to be working with no nuisance chirping. The indicator light is worthless and can not be seen on a high ceiling even in the dark. It is small, recessed & dim. My old unit was visible on a 10 foot ceiling in my garage in daylight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No surprises The base ring accommodates various receptical box sizes. Batteries in the box. Six hours in the emergency room for electrical shock (just kidding). What's not to like? I posted an article with some tips at https://higherelevations.com/featured/ after completing the install.
