120-Volt Hardwire Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup Dual Photoelectric and Ionization is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A newer technology well worth it It's difficult to rate a smoke detector's effectiveness until we have a fire, so I'll update if able. It was an easy install, with the ability to change 2 AAs without removing from wall. No false alarms, so- far-so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dual sensor means ionization + photoelectirc You should disregard the other review and check other sites for product reviews. I did extensive research before deciding on this smoke alarm. It is clear that dual sensor means photoelectric and ionization sensors for smoke. This alarm will detect both flaming and smoldering fires and give you the best protection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Alert/BRK needs to improve their Quality Assurance(QA) I purchased four of these. I am relatively sure these are a good product; however, as mentioned in other reviews, First Alert/BRK does have some QA issues. Specifically, one alarm was missing a battery and another was missing the wiring harness. As my house was previously wired an older model First Alert/BRK, the missing wiring harness was not an issue. Replacement was easy, just change the base, plug into existing harness, and test each alarm. Needless to say, wiring would have taken several more hours. With respect to appearance, on some, it is hard to see the green status light, unless you are at just the right angle or it is dark. At this time, approximately one month of ownership, we have had no false alarms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BRK/First Alert Photo and Ion Smoke Alarm Very easy to install. Only catch, as it were, is the battery tray will not close unless you've got batteries in it. Actually, you can jimmy it closed without batteries in it. Just don't pull out the battery tray, and then think it's broken, when it won't close. Put batteries in it. If you're installing it near the ceiling, rotate the detector's orientation to make sure you have room to open the battery tray, as it pulls out from the side. This was installed as a stand alone detector, so I didn't try to tie it to other detectors. I did not utilize any of the locking/anti-tampering features either. The green light showing the detector has power is very faint. Nice change from the green spotlights in my other detectors. Wire nuts are not included. Appears to be a well made product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from replaced 10 year old smoke detectors The Fire Department here recommended that smoke detectors should be replaced after about 10 years. Installation was easy with better mountings and with improvements in software and hardware they should be a great improvement.
