Product Overview

The BRK 9120B 120-Volt AC Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup is designed to install faster, perform better, and be even smarter than before. This alarm is 120-Volt AC inter-connectable (with maximum 18 compatible devices), which lets the alarm be interconnected with up to 12 other compatible smoke alarms and six compatible devices like bells, horns, repeaters, and door closers to network a comprehensive system for your home. If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. The 9120B includes an ionization sensor which helps detect fast flaming fires that consume combustible materials rapidly. The dust-reducing packaging helps avoid accidental alarms due to contaminants and the 85 dB horn can be inspected with a test button. This unit includes a quick-connect wiring harness for easier installation to your household current and 9-Volt battery backup ensures protection even during power outages or service interruptions. 10-year limited warranty.

Asked by: bob
Don't see any satisfactory answers here. I have the same problem. 10 smoke detectors in the house and one that needs a 30 ft ladder to change the battery. I just wnat one that doesn't have to be serviced every year! I know they were available but where can I find one now?

I need a replacement for BRK 86RAC. Which product would be most wire compatible to this model?
Asked by: Cal
I went online and researched their product line. Even though the model number had changed, it was the same as the original. They will tell you what is compatible with what you have. Good Luck. Hope yours is as easy as mine was.

Bought these alarms as a replacement for existing alarms that needed to be changed due to age (10 years). Not sure why smoke alarms always go bad and constantly go into alarm mode at 1:30 in the morning. I received the shipment in 2 days from the day I placed the order. That was much faster than I expected. These are only available on line in my area. It took no more than 5 minutes per alarm to remove the old alarm and collar, install the new collar and install the replacement alarm that came with a new battery already installed. The wire harness and connector are identical to the older model this one replaced. Final step was to test each alarm and ensure the tone was audible on all alarms and speakers. 5 alarms took about 30 minutes to install including clean up.

I purchased this brand because that is what was in my condo when I purchased it. All we had to do was remove the old unit, put the new base on the existing screws and connect the existing wiring harness to the new unit. Bing, Bamb, Boom, done!

Purchased this a replacement for one of three units in my condo which failed after nearly four years; I was ineligible for warranty as the units were installed by the home builder before purchase. Really like the product and feel safe with the system in my home. I appreciate the feature of having all units sounding off if just one unit detects an unsafe situation. I would probably have chosen this very product if given the choice when my building was under construction. Very pleased with the selling price for the replacement.

One was always going off (yes and like they always say one time it was actually 3:15 am) so time to replace it and the others. These are First Alert/BRK. Check your old hard wired BRK to make sure the connectors are the same (if not, no worry, also included are new female connectors you can wire into your box if necessary). If this is the case simply loosen the 2 screws for the old ring/bracket and twist it off, screw in the new ring/bracket and tighten, plug the connectors together and twist fit into the new ring/bracket. Couldn't be easier, take less than 5 minutes. I even had one high up in a vaulted ceiling and that went just as quick. Working well and of course I trust First Alert. I think there are a few YouTube videos if you want to see how it is done. Have fun......
