Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't spend your money My builder installed 3 of these in my new home two years ago. All three have gone off late at night at least four times in the last two years for no apparent reason. I've replaced the batteries, vacumed them and they still false alarmed. After removing them them from the ceiling they still went off until I removed the batteries. I'm throwing all of them out and going to by basic smoke detectors (not First Alert)for replacements and buy separate, plug-in type CO Detectors. These are too expensive to be buying every two years not to mention being woke up in the middle of the night for no reason. Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Smoke and CO detector Easy to install in place of my outdated one; clear instructions, works very well. December 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Hardwire's types malfunction 1: just page back to the picture of the device and you can see the battery door trapping the battery (this is a real design problem) replacing the battery is a major problem. 2: The hardwired BRK devices made in Mexico DO NOT have enough sine noise filters. In the instructions they point this out. (to late for you if you have the instructions in your hands). 3: Of 170 units Ive installed My alarm-age rate has tripled. some due to "tenant goofs" but mostly due to blinky CFL bulbs, noisy transformers, Tenant mancave beer signs. half worn light switches. And last but not least Medically Implanted pace makers trigger this device. I have to stop and drop everything to go and MANUALLY RELATCH THE BRKS so they continue functioning. These devices should not GO OFF with any of these electrically noisy products. These devices with high malfunction rates should be pulled from the market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Atleast the hardwired types need to be pulled" If We are to exit the building every-time the BRK goes off we might as well live outside. Mr Maintenance of 170 unit rentals January 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by solved my beeping issues product last 5 years then you will need to replace November 11, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by product defective - returned to store I bought this unit to replace an in-line system smoke detector (matched brand and model which cost about $25 extra). Went off immediately upon install. This lead me to the problem solving area on the instruction sheet and ultimately to the web site FAQ section. after checking power supply issues, swapping with known working units and 2 calls to customer service, it was determined that unit is defective and I should return it to the store and order a replacement online. So a $50 smoke detector that should take about 5 minutes to replace has taken up a lot of my time and a trip to HD and another CC charge to resolve!!!! June 11, 2013
