Hardwired Interconnected Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Voice Alert is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase Connected perfectly with my home hardwired Smoke Detector system. My other units were 13 years old so I decided to replace them. I connected this one in the Kitchen because the "ion" one sometimes went off when the oven door was opened after use. This one is photo and carbon monoxide. The only bad thing is that carbon monoxide units don't last more than 10 years. The connection is standard so I just plugged it into the unit so no skill needed for wiring. This one will talk too when you test it. I have had no false alarms. Upstairs, I used new detectors that had both ion and photo.

My alarm company bought this and installed it as part of a replacement interconnected system in 2015. In the first week of August 2016, this piece of garbage went off spontaneously, for no apparent reason whatsoever, around 3 in the morning, shrieking "Get out. There's smoke in your bedroom" at the top of its lungs over and over constantly. (There wasn't.) When the fire department came, they determined that the problem was a dead battery, apparently a common problem with this model, and everyone was able to get to bed, if not necessarily to sleep, in what was left of the night. This past January the same thing happened again -- fortunately I was home, and this time it was not necessary to have the fire department come by. I have disconnected the thing and will replace it with something reliable. (I do have hardwired smoke detectors, by the way.) I should mention that this piece of garbage replaced an older unit, which just chirped to remind people to replace the battery.

We've had trouble with half of them. After the first few months 3 of them would go off for no reason. When they go off it is very loud and scary to everyone, which I suppose is good, but not for false alarms. Our contractor replaced those units and mentioned that many are faulty. After that everything was OK for a while. They did detect high CO correctly when my contractor was doing work in our basement of the house, which was great. A couple of years later another 3 are failing for no good reason. I replaced the batteries, checked the hard wires, and it doesn't make a difference. IMHO they are unreliable. I had battery powered detectors for years before these and never had any issues. Another annoyances: When the batteries get low you get a very loud chirping noise. Usually in the middle of the night. There's no indicator light for low battery on the outside either. Since these alarms are hardwired, why not a more subtle indicator to check the batteries? Unplugging the hard electric wire is really difficult. You have to really pull and twist it out. I don't like doing this with live wires. I've had to unplug them a few times when they were reporting false alarms or they would never shut off. They have fairly poor plastic construction overall. Opening the battery door is a pain in the neck.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very frustrated, having issues with these SC7010BV units! I have these units installed in 2010 (qty 10) in my house and the last 2 years they are all alarming for no rhyme or reason in the middle of the night scaring my children. The circuits are fine interconnected, I called the fire dept and utility if we had any voltage dips below the units power supply threshold range but all has been fine. I have reinvested in several replacements and they continue to alarm, beep chirp at various times and never the same unit. I replaced batteries, checked and tested my connections. Why would they program these to warn alarm as a defective unit at varying times and right after the 5 yr warranty period?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best smoke detector on the market This smoke detector costs more but well worth the price. The voice and location feature is what sold me. You can easily program it to one of eleven locations. When it goes off, all the others (must have the Voice & Location feature) will announce the location, and if fire or smoke was detected. That way you will know immediately which detector initiated the alarm. Plus, research shows children tend to respond to a voice telling you to "evacuate ..." instead of just an alarm. One other nice feature is the siren tone. It is a unique lower pitch then most other brands. My kids tended to ignore our previous smoke detectors because they sounded too much like a really loud alarm clock (high pitch). Not these. I purchased several of these as part of a project to replace all of my existing ionization smoke detectors with photoelectric. If you don't know the difference and what it means to your potential safety, I suggest you take some time to do a little research.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC Smoke - Carbon Monoxide product! I am very impressed with the performance of this smoke and carbon monoxide detector. The BRK (First alert) device was simple and easy to install. It looks nice, easy to test and change out batteries.. The unit comes with a mounting plate, color coded pigtail snap clip, Lith. Batteries and Temp. dust cover. You have to provide the wire run, circuit breaker, box and mounting screws. The assembly is a snap! Instructions were easy to read and were in multiple languages. It takes about 5 mins to install the device...match color wire to appropriate wire run, Snap the pigtail to the unit. and CCW twist on the unit to the mount plate. Pull the clear plastic tab to allow battery contact and your done..Very Loud and I like that it warns weather its smoke or CO. and that it will get its twin to mention the exact same thing.
