Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They don't black out anything I got these to block out the morning sun and the street light right outside my bedroom window at night. I couldn't make them close enough to do either. The blades do not come down on top of each other to block out any light, and when you try to rotate them up, they only go a little past half way, so that definitely doesn't black/block out anything either. The photos show them closed as much as possible- which isn't very much! I returned these as soon as I could get them out of my windows for the cellular blackout shades, which work. These are horrible, don't waste your time and money on these!! June 21, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nightshift workers Do NOT BUY Blinds look good in a early 1990's Fresh Prince of Bell Air style. However for utility they fail horribly. Like a Honda Civic in muddy swamp land with tree stumps, wheres a Jeep with big mud triers will get one out of the swam and over the stumps. These do not block out light. Blinds only reduce light just a little compared to normal white blinds. Blinds do not close all the way facing down. Blinds do not close facing up. The plastic part on cord broke during installation. Total wast of time and resources. Wish i checked reviews before buying. Will promptly return and go with an old fashion blackout roll blind. With a roll blind, one only worries about the edges. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! #1 - Salesman was very helpful with purchase of 2 blinds explained pros and cons. #2 - A must have to darken your room. I sit in front of a window and at night you could see my shadow with the white blinds. These black blinds is a total black out. March 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Paid too much and doesn't black out! How can they "blackout" when light comes through the slats? I've used the "temporary" shades for years and no light gets past those things! These blinds however, well, I'm going back to paper. Buy temp - they work and last a long, long time! These mini-blinds DO NOT blackout and cost too much! Disappointed! I plan to return them June 20, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not blackout the room, junk fit and finish We should have read the reviews before buying these. They are junky to begin with, not completely unexpected given the price, but having the mounting brackets completely visible when it is impossible to have them evenly spaced due to the design is not forgiveable. On top of that, we bought these to blackout our bedroom. They do not blackout the room in any way, and the only difference I can see where they think they can get away with marketing them as blackout shades is that there are not holes in the individual blinds. Which doesn't matter as the blinds do no close all the way and even if there were holes in the blinds, it would not increase the large amount of light that passes through the blinds. Garbage. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Slats don't close tightly The black vinyl works well in preventing light from shining through. It doesn't "glow" with light behind it like my white vinyl blinds do. However, the slats on these blinds don't close tightly. There is space between the slats even when it is closed as far as it will go, allowing light to shine right down between the slats. Since beds and tvs are often below the window, this is a major issue. Particularly disappointing since this is the main function of the blinds, and seems like a fairly easy thing to fix. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by was disappointed :( These blinds close all the way to one side, but definitely do not close fully the other direction. i was anticipating that i would be able to close them by tilting them to the "up" position (my bed is directly below my window, and didnt want to direct light down on it), but they close to maaaaybe a 45 degree angle, and let a lot of light in. They most definitely don't "black out" the room. I returned mine, and will be looking for another solution. May 25, 2012
