Customer Questions & Answers

How do you cut these blinds. They are approx. 1/2" too wide.

Asked by: Anonymous
Take them back to Home Depot and have them cut them. It only takes a second and is real clean. They should be cut 1/2 inch shorter than the shortest width of the opening. Measure top, middle, and bottom. This gives the blinds 1/4 inch on each side to operate without catching. The other method is use a saw with a metal-cutting blade to cut the top and bottom rails, then use scissors to cut each blind slat one by one... Time consuming and not clean

Is there a cost at the local store to trim the Bali 1" aluminum blinds for width?

Asked by: Anonymous
Don't get them. The mounting brackets sucks! You will destroy the blinds getting them in them.

will you trim the length?

Asked by: Anonymous
The length was perfect for my windows so I didn't need to trim the length.

does this blind close both down and up?

Asked by: Anonymous
Pull the string and it pulls up from the bottom or twist the bar and the blinds slats will open and close. The blind only draws up from the bottom not down from the top, if that is what you mean. It is a standard style blind.

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt that I needed to write on these blinds. I need to confess that once I got them hung they work beautifully. However installation was an issue. I am a carpenter and usually I am really handy at hanging blinds, but these blinds were the worse. First, one of the four blinds I ordered did not come with the wand. Secondly, and the main issue with the blind is that the brackets that hold the blinds in place are the worse design I have ever seen. I eventually just drilled two holes in the housing and ran a 3 inch screw with a washer on it through the housing to attach the blinds to the window. Thirdly, you might as well torch the instructions before you start. They are worthless.

But there remains two issues and one of these concerns the control for raising or lowering the blinds. The design of the unit where several strings are joining into the single pull up cord, comes apart quite easily. This can cause unnecessary delays when operating the blinds. It's a clever design, but there's a lot of room for improvement. The other issue we are experiencing (and we are home improvement contractors who purchase a dozen or more blinds per monh on average) is the slats sticking to each other or the trings are not aligned equally on the left and right of a given blind. Very frustrating to have to return a unitnso often. Regrets.

I bought several of the blinds for an apartment... one of them was poorly manufactured. I had two of the blinds cut to size - both were damaged by the careless fellow who cut them poorly, then jammed them into the box, even though I asked him to be careful... please supervise your worker and implore them to be careful with the product... don't jam the blinds back into the box, it damages them and they are unusable.

The slats are very thin, the mechanism doesn't operate smoothly, and this blind was unbelievably difficult to install due to the brackets provided. It took a professional carpenter over an hour of fussing with the installation of one blind, and in the end, screws had to be used to secure the blind to the head jamb.
