Customer Questions & Answers

How do you cut these blinds. They are approx. 1/2" too wide.

Asked by: Anonymous
Take them back to Home Depot and have them cut them. It only takes a second and is real clean. They should be cut 1/2 inch shorter than the shortest width of the opening. Measure top, middle, and bottom. This gives the blinds 1/4 inch on each side to operate without catching. The other method is use a saw with a metal-cutting blade to cut the top and bottom rails, then use scissors to cut each blind slat one by one... Time consuming and not clean

Is there a cost at the local store to trim the Bali 1" aluminum blinds for width?

Asked by: Anonymous
Don't get them. The mounting brackets sucks! You will destroy the blinds getting them in them.

Asked by: Anonymous

will you trim the length?

But there remains two issues and one of these concerns the control for raising or lowering the blinds. The design of the unit where several strings are joining into the single pull up cord, comes apart quite easily. This can cause unnecessary delays when operating the blinds. It's a clever design, but there's a lot of room for improvement. The other issue we are experiencing (and we are home improvement contractors who purchase a dozen or more blinds per monh on average) is the slats sticking to each other or the trings are not aligned equally on the left and right of a given blind. Very frustrating to have to return a unitnso often. Regrets.

The size was correct and installation was medium, you will need a drill and screwdriver. I was a little disappointed that the bottom could not be fixed since I put it on a door window and it swings when the door is opened or closed. I assumed that it would be fixed at the bottom but this was not listed as an option in the description. Next time I will pay closer attention to what I am ordering.

I bought several of the blinds for an apartment... one of them was poorly manufactured. I had two of the blinds cut to size - both were damaged by the careless fellow who cut them poorly, then jammed them into the box, even though I asked him to be careful... please supervise your worker and implore them to be careful with the product... don't jam the blinds back into the box, it damages them and they are unusable.

I could've been happier with the look of these blinds, they're beautiful! I gave them 4 stars because of the difficulty of installing them. Although the instructions were clear The problem that i had was getting the blinds into the clips. I had to bend and force them to go in.

The slats are very thin, the mechanism doesn't operate smoothly, and this blind was unbelievably difficult to install due to the brackets provided. It took a professional carpenter over an hour of fussing with the installation of one blind, and in the end, screws had to be used to secure the blind to the head jamb.

Bought three of these to replace older vinyl mini blinds that were yellowing and cracking. The new aluminum blinds improved sleeping space by providing better room darkening. It was easy to find a Home Depot location that could cut them to fit inside-mount, and they were easy to install. The cords and tilt wand seem to be more flimsy than the ones on my older vinyl blinds (cutting corners in manufacturing?), but I am capable of mindfully using them in a way to ensure the longest useful life possible. They serve their purpose, no more yellowing, dusty old blinds! I'm happy enough. Home Depot employees are always helpful and pleasant to speak with.

I installed Bali blinds from Home Depot in all of my windows 10 years ago - they have held up well until this year when one of them was broken by a cat. I was pleased to discover that I could still order a replacement -- the blind has changed in design slightly but the bracket is the same which made installation super easy for me. The only detail is that the blind I ordered is about 5-6 inches shorter than the older ones and so I will need to reorder the longer length when it is back in stock. For now I'm pleased and the blind is in the window with an installed air conditioner so the shorter length is not issue until fall.
