How do I attach a shower head to this riser? Shower heads are 1/2 inch and this riser is 5/8 inch?

I seems like I am missing something here. All of these risers are not sized for a standard shower head and I cannot find a shower head made by Barclay or anyone else that fits this directly. A brass bushing will probably work; however after spending quite a bit of money on the fancy faucet , shower ring, etc. for this claw foot tub, it seems that there would be something more accommodating. Please advise.
Thanks,
Carla

Answer:
The pipe thread is 3/8" NPT with 18 threads per inch.
The outer diameter is 5/8" but the pipe threads are 3/8".
If the shower head is different then you need to buy a 3/8" Female to Male NPT adapter that fits your showerhead.

Answer:
The pipe may be 5/8" but the threads are 3/8", so you need a 1/2 in. x 3/8 in. Brass MIP x FIP Hex Bushing, this costs less than $3.00 at Home Depot.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by This is just an economy shower riser I have struggled to find a nice looking chrome shower riser with a nice looking "Sheppard hook" bend. The hook shape on this riser is the bare minimum. The width of the u-bend is only about 3 inches. I was looking for a riser with a 7-8" u-bend just because it looks nicer. However, shower risers with larger diameter bends sell for 10x the price of this riser. On the good side, I can confirm that the pipe is brass (well, it's thin brass) with chrome. Bottom line is if you just want to save money and buy a cheap shower riser than this is a good choice. But, if you want something good looking you should buy a more expensive riser. August 7, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tip about fitting riser to a shower head I read a review of the product that indicated it didn't fit the standard shower head before I purchased this. What the individual didn't realize is that there is an inside/outside threaded sleeve that will make this riser work with the standard shower heads. My old riser and shower head combination had this so it was an easy install . Just removed the shower head and the sleeve and put it on the new riser. March 9, 2015
