I believe it has an unlimited shelf life. We have kept it in garage storage many times from season to season. No problem.

Answer:
It can be used hours in advance of a storm, and at the start of a weather event to possibly reduce a couple of inches of snow as it falls. It can be used after a storm as a low temperature spot by applying in a stream to a residual spot.

Answer:
The liquid product can be used in three different ways. It can be used hours in advance of a storm by spray coating a bare surface to prevent ice and snow from bonding to the surface. It can be used at the start of a weather event to possibly reduce a couple of inches of snow as it falls. Lastly, it can be used after a storm as a low temperature spot deicer by applying in a stream to a residual spot

Answer:
Smaller sizes are available in some stores in the central Ohio area. However, I always order this on line and either have it delivered to my company or to the local Home Depot for in-store pick up

5 Gal. Liquid Anti-Snow/De-Icer is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 44.

I've used this for the first time recently at my Denver, Colorado residence. I pre-treated some walkway and driveway areas, along with a strip of concrete where the street and gutter meet to prevent ice buildup there. It seemed to work pretty well once the four to six inch snow arrived several hours later. I cleared the treated and untreated areas around 10am following an all night snow fall and did find that the treated areas accumulated less and cleared more easily. It seemed to work especially well in the curb/street gutter area and kept the area free of build up in spite of trash trucks, mailman's vehicle, etc. compacting that snow. I was able to prevent that area forming ice build up this way and later used the same approach to preventing buildup where the driveway enters the street and snow gets compacted before being able to clear it. I used nearly half the 5 gal. container using an old garden sprayer for the application. A more efficient applicator might use less. One must use care when first opening and pouring from the container as it's heavy, bulky and a little difficult to pour from. I also used saran wrap to cover the spout opening before screwing the cap back on to prevent evaporation or spillage during storage between snows. Finally, I post-treated a few icy spots further out in the street to prevent buildup there between snows. All worked adequately. I will report more after I gain more experience with this product. There were no instructions in the box about prepping or using the cap opening as a pour spout so, I cut open the perforated seal with an exacto knife and inserted a two foot length of neoprene hose with a 3/4" o.d. into the opening and it seemed to work pretty well. I also left a message with the company to call and explain how that should be done but, never heard back from them. I needed to fill my garden sprayer several times in order to complete the job. In the next snow, I will pretreat, remove snow and post treat any potentially icy areas on the entire paved area of my property. I'm guessing that will deplete this first 5 gal. test container. I think success depends on many things including temperatures, total amount and speed of accumulation, wind conditions, and many other things. Therefore, I expect results may vary with each usage. At the current price, I'm not sure I will want to keep using it each time it snows but, save it for when it will give best results, based upon experience.

If you get it applied before Ice and snow is present it stops build up of both. It will also melt existing snow and ice. I have had this product last when applied for up to three days depending on how much moisture gets on it. This is my third year of using this product and Home Depot has the best price plus free shipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bare Ground actually WORKS!!!! All products boast how "Good they are", but most of the time we buy them and they don't work as well as they did on the commercial that drove us to buy it. Bare Ground actually WORKS!!! This is my 4th season using Bare Ground and all I can say is that when my neighbor's property has snow on the sidewalk, mine is still clear and no ice. After the larger snow storms, instead of breaking my back shovelling, I can easily move snow to the side, right down to the surface, even if it has been walked on or driven over. My co-workers are glad that I told them about it, and they too, have become Bare Ground users. Just remember to clean your sprayer after you use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use We purchased this product to use on the metal edging of our roof above a slider door where ice builds up above the doggie door; and for our stairs and long wood walkway. So far so good. I find it a learning process with this product, as we had a sever cold snap, and I wasted product trying to get rid of the ice as it rained. The rain simply washed it away. What did work was; after the rain stopped, a snow storm was expected. This time I applied the product to the dry stairs, and viola, after the snow storm I cleared the snow and was down to bare wood that dried right away. And, best of all, no ice build up on the roof's edge. Before each storm, I simply spray the product on the area's I need to use it on. I might give this product a higher rating, but it hasn't been long enough in use to do that at this point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product i used this last winter to keep my driveway clear anytime it snowed 2 inches or more. It worked great. We had no ice buildup on the driveway and it did a great job combating the snow.
