We had a Bosco neo angle shower door installed 26 years ago when the home was new. After all the years of use the brass began to itch the brass, the seals were cracking and the door was giving way. We didn't want to replace the entire enclosure (made by Aker) so we another Basco for no other shower door would fit the existing enclosure foot print (26-1/2 x 15-12 x 151/2). This was 100# unit and we ordered it through Home Depot. After removing it from the box I notice the glass was scratched in the front. The scratch was located mid way down the length of the door right in the middle about 4 inches long. Rather than taking this monster back to HD and waiting weeks to get another we installed the unit knowing if the scratch was noticeable we could just send the door portion back. We disassembled the old brass door assy. and cleaned the enclosure, Then began to install the new nickel version of the old brass version. Here is a list of things we learned about doing this job: 1.) Must have two people, you and a helper. 2.)The instruction's are hard to read because you have to keep referring back to a picture in the beginning of the book, and you tend to lose your place. 3.)If you or you partner aren't mechanically inclined this assy. will be very frustrating because you must interpolate in between the lines of the instructions. 4.)Bone up on your caulking skills before doing the assembly. Caulking is a trade of it's own! It took my wife and I a weekend, about 16 hours to complete the job, I must say it turned out very nice :). We saved about a $1000.00-$3000.00 doing this ourselves. Contractors wanted to replace the entire enclosure and use their enclosure and shower door or make a complete new glass shower surround mounted off the wall. P.S. The scratched mentioned above is hardly noticeable.
