Super easy to install and used a zip tie to attach the sensor below the "flood" level to prevent any damages to home -- love the extension cable so you can place the box out of the flood zone to hear better. CHEAP!!

Hope it never goes off! Had one of two 50 gal water heaters leak then burst. Purchased this product that was recommended by a professional plumber to alert us in the event of a leak. Inexpensive device that may warn you of a potential problem.

I'm sorry to report this thing works! Sorry, because we found out when it started squealing from the basement. Thought it was the smoke detector but quickly realized it was the alarm, alerting us that the main drain was backing up. It alerted almost instantly, allowed me to shut off the washer before it flooded stuff, and get the drain fixed before the backup caused real damage. Best $10 or so we've spent. I've added one under the kitchen sink, and behind the washing machine, as the other two most likely places to have a damaging leak and not know until it's too late. And installation consists of popping a battery into it, and setting it where the leaking water will puddle. Done. It'll take you longer to open the packaging than to set it in place.

This device just saved my wife and I thousands on potential flooding damage in our basement, we were notified in the middle of the night with plenty of time to react to water seeping in our basement from unusually high and fast amounts of rain. I will be buying another one for extra security as this product gets a 10 out 10 in my book

It doesn't get any simpler than this little device. It's meant to warn you if there is any water present in areas that you don't want it. It's basically a battery powered, very loud alarm that is triggered when water connects the two metal contacts on the bottom. Water conducts electricity so it acts like a switch to turn on the alarm. When you lift the contacts out of the water it breaks the connection and the alarm stops. It has a long cord stored inside that pulls out of the bottom so that it can be mounted on the wall and the sensor can be placed on the floor. If you choose to stand it on the floor, place it were it won't get knocked over easily because it won't work in this position till the water is about an inch deep. You want the contacts to be at the lowest point so as soon as water appears it triggers the alarm. It would have been nice if there were stabilizers on the bottom that either flipped out or snapped onto the unit when it's used in the standing position. If you think you might need to add more stability to it and your handy, it would be an easy fix. I would suggest placing it somewhere were it won't be knocked over yet still visible so that you can check it easily and you should be just fine. If you have children and pets that's another story. It also would have been nice if it had a low battery warning like smoke detectors. This is something you will have to keep an eye on or it most definitely will not warn you with a dead battery.

The water alarm is used in the crawl space under our pier and beam house which only gets some water after very heavy rain storms. The alarm is used to alert us when excess water is present so we can use a submersible pump to drain the water out. The alarm has the option to put the sensor up to several feet from the alarm unit.

Very easy to get up and running - just insert the battery. I like that it can be used as is or the sensor can be removed to place where it is needed and the casing can be mounted elsewhere. This accommodates several different kinds of spaces where I needed to install them. Nice produce.
