Customer Questions & Answers

Does this include an attachment for removing the metal part of the bulb let in a socket

Bulb came out of socket without the metal screw part of the bulb
Asked by: Poppy319
If you mean a broken bulb base, it might be possible to adapt it. But, it is not supplied with this capability. Have you tried a piece of heavy rubber hose like radiator hose, or the handle end of a screwdriver, or a broom handle or dowel whittled to fit?

I have two of the light bulb changers. The pole has three sections and can be as short as 5 feet.

What attachment do I use to remove/install ceiling fan bulbs?

Asked by: CLB
Try the attachments on the replacement bulb or on a bulb like the one being removed while on the ground. Make your best selection before configuring the pole. realize your reach and the whole bulb changing dynamic will be different if the bulb you are replacing is not facing straight down. You do need to address the bulb from basically straight ahead in the direction the screw socket is aligned.

11 ft. Pole Light Bulb Changer Kit with Attachments is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 357.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth $20 The extension pole loosens the same way you loosen a light bulb so when you try to loosen the bulb the extension rod loosens instead. Very frustrating and we will be returning this item.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works sometimes Changed an interior cathedral-ceiling bulb easily. Note: be sure all three sections are tightened very firmly. It didn't have a strong-enough grip to change exterior flood lamps because of "weathering" of the connection to the socket. Design note: The designers should have taken a cue from a propane tank, which screws on counter-clockwise, because you need stronger torque unscrewing a bulb than installing it. As others have mentioned, the sections of this pole tighten in the counter-clockwise direction, so when the pole is turned counter-clockwise, the resistance of the bulb in the clockwise direction may loosen the pole sections.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive but did the job! Inexpensive item but it did the job. The suction cup attachment stuck to the lightbulb and detached, but the flood light attachment did the job. You need to make sure the sections of the extendable pole are tightly locked in place and that you seriously tighten the screw that holds the attachment in place so they don't loosen when you're twisting the bulb to the left to remove it, but once the attachment was on tight, it worked easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the price Getting old so wife won't let me get on ladder to replace pot lights in our 10 foot ceilings. Tried the pole light changer and it worked like a charm. Quick and easy. And no ladders in the living room!

The product works "okay" yet under conditions where the bulb is tightly screwed into the socket it does not grip suficiently to unscrew the bulb. This observation is based on my first use of the product and I had to get on a stepladder to remedy. The good news is that I can project that if the bulb HAD BEEN originally screwed into the socket USING the Pole Light Bulb Changer it would not have tightened to the point where the buld changer had insufficient grip to remove the bulb.

After several unsuccessful attempts at removing and replacing an LED spotlight in our foyer, it simply broke. I borrowed the neighbor's ladder and was able to replace the bulb in about 45 seconds counting the time it took to go both up and back down the ladder. Upon completing the job, I bent the rod in sections and threw it in the trash. The $12 lesson: stay on good terms with my neighbor who owns the tall ladder.

I had a ceiling light that went out on the ceiling of the 2nd floor stairway, it was to high and I didn't have a ladder high enough to reach it. I went to Home Depot and saw this 11ft. Pole Light Bulb Changer Kit and decided to give it a try, it took 5 minutes to change the bulb! I'm so happy with the results and it was so much less than buying a new ladder that I really didn't need for anything else.

I had checked and talked with all my friends to see if anyone had at least a 11 foot ladder. One day at work one of my co-workers mentioned an extension pole to change the light bulb on the back of my house. I was so happy, because the light was really starting to fail. I highly recommend this light pole, and I'm smiling ear to ear now, because when I pull up in my driveway at night "there is light"!!
