Customer Questions & Answers

How much water to add to all-in one rose & flower care

Asked by: Anonymous
I think the food that is being referred to be mixed with water may bed a "liquid" form that Bayer had about a year or 2 ago, it was labeled the same as the one that is granular, but it was an extra thick solution that was added to water(I used a 5 gallon bucket) and then the rose was "drenched" around the roots with the water/Bayer solution. I planted 5 tea roses at a nursing home and I would mix a bucket of the food in water and thoroughly soak each rose slowly around the roots and then Mulched around the bushes. It worked wonderfully, beautiful roses with no aphids or rust. Bushes produced many blooms...I repeated this about every 6 to 8 weeks. I think Bayer went to the slow release type granules, but I really liked the thick liquid type, but guess they no longer make it in that form or I cant find it anywhere.

My gardenia is in a pot that I control how long the water stays on the roots can I use your product on my gardenias

Container where water goes through and not left standing
Asked by: Hummingbug
Hi Hummingbug, I am assuming that your gardenias are in a pot with soil in it and not a hydroponic system where there is no soil. Very few common plants can thrive in standing water for long. This systemic product is designed to remain near the top of the soil and dissolve a little more with each watering as the fertilizer and insect repellent trickle down through the soil. The more water that you flush through the pot the more insecticide and nutrients just flow out the bottom of the pot. Water only until the water starts to exit from the pot. Excessive watering serves no purpose. One of the major benefits of drip irrigation is that you can calibrate the watering system to provide only enough water to water the roots and no more. I hope that this helps with your question. Be sure to place the pellets under the soil to prevent them from washing away. I have been having great results with this product and highly recommend it. Can I use it for my potted petunias ?

Asked by: Z66
Hi Z66, Yes, I see no reason why it would not work well for petunias. Just be sure to place the pellets under the soil an inch and a half to keep them from floating away when watered. Hope that this helps, and happy gardening. DJK

Direction for a granulated Bayer product with a double ringed cap say to use 1 or 2 capfuls--fill the entire cap or the inner ring of the cap?

I have a Bayer product with a double ringed cap. Directions say to use 1 or 2 capfuls per plant Do I fill the entire cap or the inner ring of the cap to use a "capful"?
Asked by: gardener5635
For me it depends on how big the roses plants are. For big plants I use two full capfuls, for smaller ones I use one or less caps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from White flies, GONE! I bought this 3 in one because I wanted great blooms as well as white fly control. I cannot believe how well this product worked, my hibiscus has not been this healthy in 20 years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bye Bye Japanese Beetles Came home from a business trip on Saturday to find that Japanese Beetles had invaded my knock out roses - an entire flower bed of them. The Japanese Beetles were visibly nesting in the petals and had eaten a good amount of the leaves. Sunday morning, I applied some Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower Care spray (connected to a hose) and the beetles died within 10 minutes. I then followed up with Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower Care combined feed and pest/disease protection. Bye, Bye Japanese Beetles! Hello healthy blooms and leaves! If you want to kill all the bees in your neighborhood, this is the product to use. While it systemically protects your roses and flowering plants, it's chemicals will kill honeybees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's with the half empty bottle? I have used the rose care systemic for years to good effect. However, I just bought a bottle that exclaimed, "25% more" only to find that the bottle was about half empty when I opened it. I went back to the store to find that all the bottles were this way. I get that the product is sold by weight. Still - it feels like poor marketing to get a half empty bottle given the claim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever I've used countless rose disease and insect products over many decades. This is the best one, with the exception of the easier to use and quicker results version, the liquid form of 3-in-1, aka All in one. I used to buy only Scotts brands for their quality and reliability. But these Bayer Advanced Rose & Flower Care products were worth a try when my usual Scotts ones were hard to find or too expensive. I'm glad I tried them; they all seem to work even better than Scotts, which were no-slouch products themselves. But as I say, the liquid form of the All in One seems easier to use and has quicker results. Yeah, I know you have to mix it in a watering can, where this granular one you just spread around the plant. But then the granular has to be raked in, which with shallow-rooted roses can be tricky, and it takes many days to dissolve into the soil. The liquid form is available to the plant right away, and there's no raking. I actually keep both forms on hand, since the liquid isn't always readily available in stores, and I think the best routine entails using the granular occasionally anyway for its long-term dissolving properties. Works for me!
