Customer Questions & Answers

how about the filter?

can anyone tell me anything about the filter and how well it works. the specs talk about the pump, but not the filter which is part of it.
Asked by: photop
The filter is very effective. Does a very good job of trapping algae, dirt and leaves. I exchange my filters once a week as I have a pond that is under trees, promotes algae growth and has fish. Buying the extra filter pack is money well spent because you can exchange the filter instead of removing, washing and replacing in two steps. I then just clean the filter and put it in the rotation for exchange later. I run two pumps 24/7, the pump and the filter are very durable and the filters work great if you keep them clean.

how many gallons can it handle

Asked by: draganfly
As far as flow? or size of pond? If it's flow that depends on how high above the water line that you are pushing the water. The package has a chart for that. If you mean how many gallons in the pond and circulation, that's also something to consider regarding filtration and region. I live in a region that promotes algae growth and I have fish in my 1000 gal. pond. I use two of these pumps that run three water features and keep my pond crystal clear. If you don't have fish you could use one of these for a 1000 gal. pond and be effective. Place the pump at the lowest point in the pond for oxygen circulation and cleaning.

Can I attach a hose to pump out all water and refill?

I have a 150 gallon duck pond. It is mucky and muddy. Filtering is near impossible but I need a pump to get the water out so it can be cleaned and then refilled. Also I need something to keep the water quality a bit cleaner!! Will this attach to a hose?
Asked by: KJ
Do you mean 150,000 gallon? 150 gallon is the size of a modest/large aquarium in the home.

Can this pump be used without the two-way flow valve installed? Beckett FR600

I just bought this pump and cannot remove the Valve insert Control.
Asked by: Ginger
Yes. This is what I had to do anyway since it doesn't have the power to fight the line friction the former model could handle.

I replaced a Total DD11560 pump with this Beckett FR600HD and it does not deliver the volume and feet of head that the DD11560 did. I have been using the FR600HD for about a week and I'm considering sending it back. Bill Steitle Fairview, Texas

Rated 4 out of 5 by from size matters I bought this pump just to use with a waterfall. I purchased a 3/4 inch hose which the label said was the largest hose size for that pump. the problem is inorder to use any hose you mut use the adapter which leaks so you do not get the full volumn to your waterfall. None of the adapters you get can be connected directly to the discharge, you must use an adapter or get a hose with a inside diameter of 7/8.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a bad pump I bought this to replace the 250 gph pump in my Aquaponics system. I dont believe the gph ratings run true, but the pump is adequate. I'm using 20 ft. of 1/2" black vinyl tubing. Lift is 20". This pump is also attached to the large biofilter offered through HD. It has 5 solids filters which feed a ball style biofilter then to the fish tank. My fishies are happy...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pump/Pond Filter For my pond, it is just a teeensy bit more than what I needed, but it works very well! I do love it b/c I can play around with it. I wish I had more room for the fountain. They give you many different types of ?water flow-ers? - not a flower but a way for water to flow. I am happy that I bought this product. I have many options with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from happy with pump This pump works great for my 400 gal Koi pond. The pump does need to be weighted down to keep it upright as it tips over easily. I have cleaned the filter at least once a day and after a week the water is now clear. I am happy with the pump and have ordered a couple extra filters to make it handier when the filter needs to be cleaned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Replaced former Beckett 535 with this 600. Doesn't have half the lift of the former and cavitates easily. If replacing an older pump, you may want to go much larger since these have really suffered in quality and performance compared to the former models.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor power Does not have enough power to start after it is submerged You have to start it before submerging it so you get all wet when it starts pumping
