Water level must be 1 inch or more to activate. I prefer at least 25 feet of garden hose to keep water away from pool area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I have been removing water from the top of my pool cover for years by siphoning the water off. this got to be a very difficult task. I recently purchased this product. It works great. I only wish I had obtained a pool cover pump years earlier. I do suggest that the plate below the pump be heavier so the pump does not "float". I prefer that the device depress the pool cover slightly. October 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Purchase I've Ever Bought From Home Depot What a piece of junk! I'm really surprised Home Depot sells this. It ran for about an hour pumping water off my pol cover but then stopped pumping but continued to run. Hasn't worked since. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pool Winter Cover Pump It works as described and clears water from the cover. Once the water level drops below the pump, it automatically shuts off. Debris has not been a problem although I have cleaned it off with a hose several times. June 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by inexpensive way to keep water off of pool cover Works just fine. Problem I had with ruhl pump was that it waS so strong, it would conconstantly clog with leaves. This pump is slower and does not draw the leaves like the ruhl. But, i also bought a small rectangular basket from the dollar store which already had the perfect size holes all around, and then slid a plastic mesh orange bag over the basket and secured with nylon ties to basket. Now no leaves get to pump. I put 2 bricks on platform of pump to keep it held and ran hose out outside of basket amd pump is small enough that it does not extend above basket top. Works perfect! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Better than nothing If the choice is between no pump and this pump it's OK. It had very little power, and took almost a week to drain rain water off top of pool cover. Previous pump purchased at pool store would have done the job in about 6 hours. Three pieces fell off of it the first time it was used. Will glue it back together but it shouldn't be falling apart the very first time it's used. Previous pump lasted 10 years. January 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 130 GPH Pool Cover Pump Very pleased with this pump. The price was right and just plugged it in. I don't have to worry about it working because of the auto on-off feature. Would recommend this to anyone. December 13, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pool cover pump This item was considerably smaller than it looked online. It is about the size of a box of matches. When we tried it on our pool cover we barely saw any results and ultimately ended up returning it. December 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT PURCHASE This is the worst product I ever purchased! I placed it on my inground pool cover, turned it on, and I could hear the motor running, but it never pumped the water off the cover, I returned it. May 7, 2014
