Answer:
Given the picture and the pump is 6 inches long by description, I would hazard a guess of 1.5 inch, given the volume.

Since I keep reading problems about the plastic propeller, is there a metal one?

I would assume that there would be a stainless steel propeller or some sort of metal one that is rust resistant and has a much longer life expectancy, but idk if there is such a thing or is it even possible to fit one into the design.

The specs on this item suck. The information provided, although accurate, is worthless. When pumping to a waterfall there is a rise. It doesn't matter if it pumps 4800GPH with no head. With a head rise of 12ft will it still pump? is it 120 or 240? what kind of cord if any is provided?

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding! Hard running little pump no troubles very for the price as one of those wide 18inch waterfall opening things and 12 feet of hose. Flows just nicely August 14, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by pond pump used less than 6 months motor stoped impelled frozen August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Failed on the 4th day This pump failed on the 4th day. Death arrived in the form of hard particle that penetrated the sealed part. Thus the rotation of the shaft becomes obstructed and pump does not start; however, manual rotation helps it to take off, until few minutes later pump stops again. Pond technician said its typical to these types of pumps when they get old. My previous similar pump lasted 8 years before it died similarly. Could have been just a bad luck. So, after return, I have differently looking pump from the same company in hope they have improved the seal. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Water feature new pump New pump stronger than before had to change tubing in ground to twice the flow as before, also change the depth of the channels to prevent over flooding and retain the water in feature! All works took 2 hours of redoing to begin enjoying the sound and appearance of this water feature! March 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent pump for streams and waterfalls Using this to pump water 25 feet up a hill into a stream with multiple waterfalls.. Works excellent.. should be used with 2 inch hose which you will need to buy an adapter for..... May 6, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good choice I've been using this pump in my water feature for 10 years. I usually get about five years out of the pump before they give out. For the price, that's not bad. So when the last one died I ordered a new one. Had it running for 4 days and the impeller sheared. Must be a fluke I thought, returned it to HD and got a new one. Installed it on Friday and Sunday afternoon, guess what?!! Impeller sheared again! Something must have changed in the production of this impeller since I have read the reviews and it seems to be a common problem. Have a call into Beckett but I doubt there's anything they can tell me.. Buyer beware! August 3, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by how to rate an item you just purchased. How silly i purchased this to replace an existing pump rated for 4500 gph. so far i would say this pump delivers about 3500 not 4800 gph . or the one that died after 4 years of use was improperly rate and should have been 5500 gph. the construction of this pump is a little flimsy and it doesn't offer any way to remove the filter end for direct inline usage. So what you see is what you get . see you in 4 years as to its longevity. i bet you will never see this review . give me 2 years and i will tell you if it was worth the money... November 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid this pump I purchased th the 4800 GPH unit, after reading the reviews of others, convinced that the impeller problem was isolated or mis-installed by them. Wrong! The first pump impeller broke within 48 hrs, jammed the unit and I returned it. I purchased a second pump, thinking that it could not happen again. The replacement unit ran for about a week and stopped. Actually, 1/2 of the impeller broke off, and the unit ran at half mast until the other half broke, When I called to get a replacement impeller, they were on back order (serious red flag!) but Beckett was sending them out as warranty replacements at no cost - kudos to Beckett customer service. The replacement impeller arrived after about 6 weeks, it was about a 2 minute replacement fix and the pump was back in action...for 2 days! Impeller sheered again, in exactly the same place. This is a poor design with inferior parts. I would recommend a different unit if you are considering this pump.. October 26, 2015
