We installed this in an existing pond built by the previous owners. It was definitely "plug and play" and moves enough water over the rocks to give a pleasant and soothing waterfall sound on the deck and back yard. The filters are easy to remove and clean, and the cord is long enough to make it easy to get to a GFCI receptacle. It has only been in use for a few weeks, but it hasn't missed a beat.

Placed into a 4 foot pond with sprinkler pump. Used this one for the waterfall. Still working nicely.

I have this pump in my pond, running to a canister filter and the UV sterilizer and a waterfall. It is strong enough to pump water through both. The sponges have to be cleaned regularly, but that is due to the existing sludge in the pond. Cleaning is easy, just pull the sponges off and rinse.

I agreed with the other users initially. I bought the pump at Home Depot hoping for something to circulate water in a small pond for a reasonable price. The first time around, the pump worked well at first, but got progressively louder after a few weeks, and then burned out altogether. I called Beckett, and they gave me the option of returning it to HD or they would send me a new part. Being clever, I had Beckett send me a new part AND HD was kind enough to exchange the broken pump, no questions asked. So I got a replacement and the replacement part, for free, both companies had decent customer service. Now, the second time I set up the pump, I paid closer attention to the ratio between the water sent through the fountain and the water being sent through the secondary valve. Getting the pressure right is absolutely important. If you don't get the right balance, you are putting too much pressure on the impeller. Since finding the balance, the pump has been working perfectly, minimal noise, no burnout. If that changes, I'll update the review. Just take the time to set it up right. If you are at all worried about replacing the pump, go with a professional model from a pond store, but this worked well for me.

I have a small pond that is about 700 gallons. I have bought this pump several times, why did I buy it several times is because even with cleaning the filters or filter weekly on the older models the impeller spinning rod that the magnet was on inside use to break all the time making it useless, I would have to go return just about every 2 to 3 months. They have upgraded to a metal rod that is much better, it has not broken once. the new filters are so much thicker that I believe they will keep out debris and stop the causing and magnet and casing from getting jammed or damaged.
I honestly hated the old pumps but the new ones seem to have so many more improvements. Old replacement parts were astronomical it was probably better to by a new pump than spend the same just on the magnet and spinning rod.
So far I have had no issues I did purchase the bio filter with this pump, but i did have a problem with the pump falling off all the time, the fit just did not feel fir, but I think that could be the angle of the hose to the fountain that caused that issue. I had additional filter parts and have made it work, it is going strong with little maintenance. Happy for the improvements.

These pumps seems easy to use, but they have drawbacks.
1. The connections are non-standard, so the pump connects with its own parts, but not standard pipe threads, etc.
2. The filters clog easily and often. It would improve the system greatly if the inlet nipple would connect to standard threads and then to a better filter.
3. The impeller bearing failed.
4. The filter is a mesh material that collapses when clogged.
For the price I want more of a pump. Or, at least, replacement parts.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pondman They keep burning out
I just burned out my 3rd one. The 1st one lasted about a month, the second one 2 months and this last one only 3 weeks! With the last one, it started making a buzzing noise after a day, then when it finally gave up it made a horrible grinding noise. I keep the filters clean and check on it every day. It's a shame because when it does work, it works well. This pump is plenty big enough for my pond so I really don't understand. I don't see anywhere to make adjustments on it and there isn't a detailed manual. Also, Beckett doesn't carry this on their website so there's something fishy here (pun intended). Thankfully Home Depot hasn't given me any problems returning it. I'll find out later today if they'll let me do another exchange.

This pump appears well made and easy to operate. The long filter is essential for smooth operation. I was very pleased how strong the pump worked and how easy the filter was to clean. It stopped working after 10 months! there are not a whole lot of choices out there for my set up for this type of gph so I will have to buy another and hope for better luck..
