I am not an electrician or a experienced handy man. This was my 1st electrical home improvement project. This device is a wi-fi enabled light control switch that you can turn on/off your light with either an Android app or IPhone app. We have both and they both work perfectly! Installation was easy. All you need is a screw driver and a voltage tester to make sure the circuit breaker is completely turned off. Very important otherwise you will get shocked. This will only work with single pole light switch meaning if there are two switches that turn on the same light this won't work like stairway lights. Once installed setup on the app is simple. Also, with this switch you can still turn the lights on/off manually by pressing on the switch panel. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Sebastian The Genie in the WeMo light switch will leave the light ON for you.
This WeMo light switch is very easy to install and set up. (less than 5 minutes each for hardware and software setup). It has to be connected to Wi-Fi net work to be operated remotely, from anywhere in the world, but at home you can turn it ON with your smart phone or just pressing it as a regular switch.
For remote operation, you can either use Wi-Fi or cellular network to operate the light switch.
It is wonderful to turn your lights ON remotely. You will not have to enter a dark house, or you can make it look like it is occupied.
The Genie in the WeMo light switch will leave the light ON for you.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by mixmox easy installation, works, software needs to improve
This switch is easy to install, especially if one has done some electrical work before. Switch off the power (I always switch the light on and then switch off the breaker so that I can see that the light has gone off), unscrew the faceplate, pull out the old switch, connect the wires (the wire nuts are supplied), push it back in and clip on the new faceplate. Note the new faceplate is a bit wider than the standard switch covers. Close the breaker again and test the switch manually.
I installed the wemo app on an Android tablet. I was able to connect to the switchâs wifi network without a problem. I provided my wifi password and then the switch connected to the network fine. It right away wanted to upgrade its firmware which I allowed. The wemo app was able to find the switch and toggle it on and off without a problem.
The wemo app lets one set various rules such as switch on at sunset until a certain time, come on at random times when one is away, etc. Once I selected a sunset threshold the system rightfully needed to know the location (so that sunset/sunrise times can be calculated) and it then stated it needed to do another firmware upgrade. I presume this was really just to download the sunset/sunrise times into the switch, since moments before it had declared that is was all up to date.
I created a rule to switch on at sunset (currently 8:20) on Saturdays and turn off again at 9:30 PM. I also created a rule to switch on at random times if I was away.
The light did NOT switch on after 8:20PM. I tried a few other rules and could not get it to honor any rules at all. A few days later I disabled all the rules and created a new one, to switch on everyday at sunset, and then that one started working. So rule handling is a bit buggy.
The wemo app is a bit flaky, to edit a rule, there is a menu at top right that provides access to various actions (such as edit) and on numerous occasions, attempts to invoke the menu resulted in the app going back to its start page, forcing me to go to rules, pick the rule and try the menu again. Picking menus in the app should not be hard.
The app uses color alone to indicate status. Eg green is on, weekdays in green are the ones that are active. It is better for normal vision and color blind users to use something more than color alone to show status.
The light switch has a very nice small glow at night time allowing the switch to be easily found in the dark. When on, it has a nice green light to indicate that it is in the âonâ position.
The hardware looks and feel great, the supporting mobile software needs some improvement.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Brian Excellent product but with one limitation that will not work for me...
The product is an easy install, and does genuinely work from across the globe. Setup is fast but once I read through the simple, very clear instructions I read "not designed to work with metal faceplates" in small print on the side of the box. Not sure why except maybe the metal faceplate blocks wifi signals?...but my whole house has beautiful metal faceplates so I am not going to sacrifice that just for this switch. However, I will use it for my detached garage to turn lights on since I have a strong wifi signal that reaches it. So, to sum up a short review because it's a great product, I will recommend it but not to those with "METAL faceplates.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Marty Works well.
Overall, I am pleased with my Wemo light switches. I have 4 of them installed in my workshop to control inside and outside lights, 2 boxes with 2 in each. The wifi app works well, but does occasionally hang. I am using an android to control the system.
Improvements would be the ability to control 3 or 4 way switches, which it currently does not. This limits where I can use the system. It doesn't dim either. Also, there is no app for the PC or mac, only phone. If your application doesn't conflict with it's limitations, then it's worth installing.
