I am not an electrician or a experienced handy man. This was my 1st electrical home improvement project. This device is a wi-fi enabled light control switch that you can turn on/off your light with either an Android app or IPhone app. We have both and they both work perfectly! Installation was easy. All you need is a screw driver and a voltage tester to make sure the circuit breaker is completely turned off. Very important otherwise you will get shocked. This will only work with single pole light switch meaning if there are two switches that turn on the same light this won't work like stairway lights. Once installed setup on the app is simple. Also, with this switch you can still turn the lights on/off manually by pressing on the switch panel. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Sebastian The Genie in the WeMo light switch will leave the light ON for you.
This WeMo light switch is very easy to install and set up. (less than 5 minutes each for hardware and software setup). It has to be connected to Wi-Fi net work to be operated remotely, from anywhere in the world, but at home you can turn it ON with your smart phone or just pressing it as a regular switch.
For remote operation, you can either use Wi-Fi or cellular network to operate the light switch.
It is wonderful to turn your lights ON remotely. You will not have to enter a dark house, or you can make it look like it is occupied.
The Genie in the WeMo light switch will leave the light ON for you.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Brian Excellent product but with one limitation that will not work for me...
The product is an easy install, and does genuinely work from across the globe. Setup is fast but once I read through the simple, very clear instructions I read "not designed to work with metal faceplates" in small print on the side of the box. Not sure why except maybe the metal faceplate blocks wifi signals?...but my whole house has beautiful metal faceplates so I am not going to sacrifice that just for this switch. However, I will use it for my detached garage to turn lights on since I have a strong wifi signal that reaches it. So, to sum up a short review because it's a great product, I will recommend it but not to those with "METAL faceplates.

The switch was an easy install. It took me a little longer than normal due to a shoulder injury. Once connected the switch setup was easy and it was quickly found by my iPhone along with the other WeMo devices that i am using. The switch allows me to control my exterior patio LEDs as well as set them on a timer.

The WeMo Light Switch comes nicely packaged in a small box similar to the WeMo plug. You receive the switch, a wall plate, four wire nuts, and some simple to follow directions. Installation is straight forward. Similar to most timer type switches, the Wemo Light Switch requires the neutral wire to function.
I installed this WeMo Light Switch to control my backyard flood lights. I already had a timer switch with LED backlit display (which I really like) controlling the flood lights but I switched it out for with switch to gain the wifi capabilities.
I already had one WeMo device so the app was already on my Android phone. Adding this light switch to the app took a couple of tries but it was fairly simple. With the app you have numerous options on when the lights come on and go off. When I'm out back, I can turn the lights off or on when needed from my phone.
One of the best features of the WeMo Light Switch is the Long Press function available when you use the IFTTT service. You have to explore the IFTTT website to discover the many useful and/or fun possibilities it offers. I created three recipes that work with the Long Press. By pressing and holding the WeMo Light Switch for more than two second the recipes are activated. I have a floor lamp connected to my WeMo Switch which turns on along with two lamps connected to a Phillip's Hue lighting system. Essentially I can light up my entire downstairs by pressing one button.
I won't say that any of this is necessary but it is useful and a lot of fun.
