I got this for heat treating small metal tubing.
-The tip is all metal with a good amount of room to expel heat. I never once felt the pen itself get hot or was worried I would melt any plastic parts.
-Adapter with the soldering and heat blower units is nifty. Easy to use, small and convenient. I never actually soldered anything with it but I tested it (attached it, lit it, inspected it, just didn't actually use it) briefly and it seemed useful and convenient.
-The size was convenient and had a decent fuel capacity (30 minutes give or take on medium heat setting). Also was extremely easy to fill.
-The pop out stand was helpful.
I don't want to list this one as a pro or a con (I didn't mind it at all but some might) but it is worth mentioning: it doesn't have self ignition, you have to light it with another lighter or flints, etc.
-Stopped working after just over an hour of total, yet continuous, use. I'm 99% sure it wasn't because of a plastic piece melting or anything like that. Was using it and it was working just fine. Turned it off and set it down. Picked it up one minute later to ignite it again, pushed the switch on. Nothing. No gas hiss. It stopped being able to expel gas. I made sure it was FULL on gas. Still nothing. I let it sit and checked to see if it started working again periodically over 90+ hours. Still does not work.
I will be returning it immediately and will not buy one again.
Also it should be noted that the image of this product on this website is scrunched. The pen more resembles a scaled up sharpie. Longer and thinner than pictured.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by azdadof4 Didn't know how much I needed this, till I bought one!!!
As a Master Tech I do quite a few wiring repairs that are sometimes in very restricted areas.
I have used it in all 3 modes (torch tip, hot blower, and soldering) and due to it's size it's indispensable!
I LOVE the hot blower to shrink heat wrap after a repair. I've used the torch tip to help extract a broken exhaust stud in a tight space. And once the soldering tip heats up, it's amazing how efficient it is.
All in all, for occasional use in restricted areas this little torch is a MUST HAVE!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Robert Good hobby torch - not a power horse
I bought this item after reading the previous review about how the torch blew out at the slightest movement. I only needed it for a small project and for the price it couldn't be beat.
I initially had the same problem but upon reading and following the instructions (let gas settle before using, blue portion of flame should be 3/4" long) no longer had any issues.
I've used it outside without any attachments in breezy conditions with only mild problems. (I was sweeping it back and forth across a 4 foot section and got too fast)
Fortunately, though the flame is invisible in sunlight there's an obvious change in sound if the flame goes out. It's not self-igniting though so if you're using it in a breeze keep a lighter handy.
Comes with a "heat blower" attachment and a soldering iron tip.
Great value for the hobbyist that doesn't need a larger sized torch.

Easy to use, easy to fill. Can carry it in your shirt pocket. Excellent for soldering in tight places or soldering larger objects like copper pipe.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ikonerg Excellent for soldering of circuits and repairs
This soldering iron is definitely a bit different from other ones that I have used. It does not have built in ignition system, which is not that exciting - you have to have a lighter around when using it.
But what it does do - works consistently - I bought several butane soldering irons from RadioShack, and they worked only temporarily, with butane gas delivery system getting clogged up and not working.
This iron works stably already for more then a year, with daily use.
There is no worry about electrostatic discharges from it, or any other electrical issue because it is not electrical at all. Has a stand that easily makes it safe to place on the work space at any time during work.
One more very important value - it has one window opening for heat output near the tip of iron - not two or four like in other ones - this way by keeping it pointed away from circuit board and wires when doing the work, you are not overheating anything, or melting it with intense infra-read heat coming out of burning chamber.
Definitely recommend for electronics.

READ THESE REVIEWS!
Hard to light UNTIL, UNTIL you heat the tip with a lighter for less than ten seconds. After that, turn down gas to 1-2, and it will light immediately.
Satisfied. Great for hobbies, small jobs
