Answer:
This solder has silver in it, which makes it more expensive and which you don't need for regular copper tubing/fittings carrying potable water. Just get regular lead free solder and some water soluble flux, and you'll be in business.

Answer:
Don' t mind him, the product overview says it's good for circuit boards and it will work on just about any clean metal. The reference to silver soldering means it contains silver not that it will only solder silver.

Answer:
Use the same type of solder you would use to sweat copper pipe fittings together. Get lead free solder. Doesn't need silver in it. Get the right diameter solder to suit the wire you're working with.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

“ Any solder and flux can work. An acid core solder is best for metal work in non-plumbing applications. "

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solder is great, flux is junk. The solder worked great, but I had to use different flux. The flux that came with the solder did almost nothing. A little pricy for how much solder you get. January 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Tried unsuccessfully to solder stainless steel pins to stranded copper cable using soldering iron and various methods. This product worked perfectly at the first try! April 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk The package says silver solder but I doubt the purity. Additionally, the flux is useless. If you want to solder anything except copper, it is USELESS. With silver solder, it would be nice to have a much more aggressive flux. Buy something else. September 27, 2012
