I am a first time torch user, bought it mainly for home use including cooking after I saw an interesting recipe on Arizona Republic last month. Tried using it today and it worked for my purpose.
On ease of installation, I am rating it 3 because of lack of information. I am sure it is obvious for professionals, but for me it took sometime to figure this out. Neither the small install guide provided with the kit, nor the numerous videos on the Youtube show or tell you this information!
The propane cylinder comes with a cap (was black in color, but saw few videos where it was white). I was not sure if I should remove the cap or fit it as is, because the cap seem to have circular place holder about the size of the small nozzle on the torch pistol that you fit into. YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CAP before trying to fit into the torch pistol:). Only then will you find the screw head on the cylinder tank's top that you need to screw back into the torch pistol gun.

I had to replace an old hose bibb, so went to homedepot.com, found this do-it-yourself torch kit and purchased it. Got up Saturday morning fired it up and replaced my hose bibb without any leakage. Easy to put together. Worked perfect for me!!

I only bought this to torch the sugar topping of my creme brulee and it works superbly. For any other usage, you can just ignore my post.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Falcon802 worst torch head ive ever owned
I had the standard brass torch head for years never an issue but needed replacing they do wear out eventually, as a gift it was retired and this replaced it. Owned this junk for a year now, first use no problem ,second had to use external means to light it the igniter gave out. Third the valve stuck half way so I couldn't solder with it, never even a tip appeared. Had I used it for a bbq but fine solder not in the slightest, wasted two tanks of gas till the valve finally opened fully and the flame sputtered out, tank was out of gas , total waste of time and money. Skip this product get a brass or better quality one, this will only be bad money spent . Completely disappointed and dissatisfied

Purchased this for a quick job because I left my pro torch at another job :-)
With that stated it's a simple self igniter torch. I would only say it's effective only up to 3/4. Any bigger it's not going to work well.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jake33 Adjuster knob fails
I've had to return this product for a replacement, and with both torches, the adjuster knob gets stuck. The adjuster knob has broken both times even with very gentle use. The quality of this product is terrible.
