I wanted to build a bunch of stuff out of copper pipe, so I needed a torch. Just-For-Copper Solderless copper bonding was worthless. Sharkbites cost too much (About 8 times more) so I bought this. This got the job done so fast. It can even desolder copper fittings. I used it for a long time and I still did not run out of MAPP gas. When I do, I will get more MAPP. It burns so hot, the flame is clear! It made opening up a stuck threaded joint easy, but another joint was rusted too badly. The old, cracked dope caught fire and the joint could be disassembled. Very happy with my purchace.

I bought this as a cheap alternative to a B tank. Sure its not as hot as a b tank but its close enough that its not a hugely noticeable difference when soldering joints. I have only used it on 1/2" and 3/4" so far. The performance makes me believe you wouldn't want to do anything above 2" but I could be wrong. So far highly impressed though for a cheap alternative to a B tank. Helps me get my work done without spending a ton or lugging around a large tank.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by NJPaul Wow, this ends solder problems with water pipes
HAd to solder a pipe with some water dripping into it. This baby handled it in about 30-40 seconds (literly). Steam poured out the end of the pipe and solder took first time with no trouble. My old propane tourch would not have been able to get it hot enough and it would have taken 2 or three attempts normally. The best $50 i have ever spent. And the intant on /off means I can save about 60-80% fuel.

I tried for hours to use a propane torch to remove a leaky value in our master shower. I was so frustrated I had no issues purchasing this MAPP torch after reading the review left by the first reviewer Paul. With in 20 minutes I too had the three soidered connections removed and ready for adding our newly purchased shower valve, handle and head.
